is there a way to replace armour blocks with higher tier armour blocks? It is kinda annoying to strip my tank down every time I want to upgrade the armour.

Eh, one by one. I generally upgrade the armor constantly, so I only rebuild when I change weapon and engine tiers.

FYI, you can hold down right-click to quickly remove blocks, though I guess this isn't what you want. :p

Incidentally, is there any point to headlights at all?
They waste substantial cpu.
However, they can also be used to bump lower-tier craft just over the line into the next tier up, which means better payout and the potential to grab up-tiered weapons rather than at-tier wheels to push you into that tier normally.

they somewhat make harder for rails to aim at vital spots on your bot.

I finally got around to switching out the blue cubes for black ones on my tier 10. It's surprising how much it adds to survivability.

I finally pushed into tier 10! yay!

Then I removed a couple of extra blocks to go back to T9 after realising how durable people are in T10.

Incidently, replacing the T7 shields with T9 shields at the front of my robot made a world of difference, as it can now take a T10 rail shot to the front and survive completely intact.

I think in the future Robocraft should have two part allowances... one being for strategic parts and the other being for cosmetics.

Or better still, have cosmetics actually be cosmetics which don't use CPU and don't have armour values.

There's problems with that.  This is a game of aimed shots, really.  You always want to shoot your enemies guns or wings or something before shooting solid armor.  If cosmetics have no CPU value, but obscure vision, then that's a benefit at not cost.  If it can take 1 hit and be instantly destroyed, then that's still a tool for redirecting damage in ways you want.  If it can be shot through with no hit box, then it's still something visually in the way.  There's not really a way that you can place something as "100% for show" without it having some usable function.

That's a reasonably well thought out argument there. Maybe post that over in the robo forums? Most of the guys over there still prefer the pure cosmetic idea (ie. no CPU, no armour value, just decor).

Coincidentally, that's the same reason headlights cost like 24 CPU - they make you shine like a beacon, but also makes it more awkward to get a direct shot on your equipment, and too many headlights can overwhelm lesser computers and cause lag for players.  This does mean you could build a 'tackle robo' with just a ton of headlights, that you shine at someone and when they look at them their computer freezes, but then you're betting that your headlights are stronger than their desktop, and if even one enemy can handle it then you get shot pretty quick.

In my experience, they nerfed them enough with the CPU cost that it's effectively nerfed.  If you built a wall of lights, it'd probably work, but you'd need a hell of a lot of CPU to pull it off...

They don't have many tier-upping-points attached to them, so it's easy to add a lot for a T5 or so bot when you typically use at least tier 7. ;)
