Though there would be more armor, individual block health would be decreased & would have different strengths/weaknesses.
It's all a matter of balancing.


B-but muh depth. I wants it!
Running the core & frame blocks in a 4x4 spine, then taking offshoots of the frame every once in a while would work.
It would help if we could phase-shift between armor blocks & the two core blocks, so we don't have to peel off all the layers to make changes there.

well, the only thing I'd like is to see a chassis block with 5 times armor, 10x rp cost and 50x cpu of the corresponding levels blocks.

so you can actually rest your weapon on something that wont get destroyed at the first hit and you can then armor that.


also remove the damned damage propagation from weapons to the connected block.

That's pretty much what I mean with 'framing blocks', sans the heavy RP cost. ~5 tiers of the stuff.

well you need to avoid uptiered people using them to troll people and keep the game fair and balanced - need some non linear penalty from armor blocks, otherwise it will just obsolete them

RP wouldn't stop uptier-trolling. But make them worth 5x the ranking, and the 5x armor value + 5x tier ranking + 50x CPU cost would make them inferior to normal armor for uptiering in everything but space. (and if you're willing to pay 50x the CPU cost for that? Well that's your own uptiering-business)

SMGs are hitscan, meaning there is no travel time; the laser GFX is fluff that has no bearing on where the hit goes.

As for rails, perhaps you were sliding down an incline? The guys hitting you while they're moving is luck- true spraynpray. The RNG showed them favor!

I have a similar combat/construction game system I made a while back, currently fleshing it out a bit and transferring it to a computer based ruleset before I use it for a forum game~

I want to see treads. You put them down as individual blocks, and the texture connects together like glass, railings, etc. do in minecraft.

-Armor pool shared by the entire tread, equal to the combined armor of every connected tread block. Makes for a sort of psuedo-shield because it can cover your entire side.
-Allows the ability to turn in place
-Better traction/climbing than wheels, enough to go up steeper hills and inclines, but nothing like Walkers.
-Slowest form of movement, slightly slower than wheels, but by far the least agile.
-Most durable when spread across a lengthy side of your hull, but the entire tread is destroyed at once instead of just one of the wheels.

Having real tanks (and halftracks, should you combine them with wheels) would be pretty fun.

Railguns and SMGs in this game just plain hate me.

People can get near 100% hits on me with an SMG continually firing or a railgun when the guy's moving. When I sit still with both and burst fire for an SMG, I end up with the fucking shots going out of the barrel at what must be a 45 degree angle or some shit.



Ha! And when I said that and even provided a video everyone looked at me like I was crazY

The only time I've ever seen that is when I was trying to fire somewhere my gun couldn't actually shoot at. You sure that wasn't the case?

Bear in mind that railguns lose accuracy when you're moving... and that includes the gun mounts rotating. Which kinda makes sense, but it means you won't get pixel-perfect accuracy if your crosshair is in motion. Aim ahead of your targets, and wait for them to move into your reticule instead.

Also, the crosshairs are a suggestion at best; the actual shot will frequently go way outside if they aren't at the smallest. Although you probably already knew that!

Yeah, if they aren't completely closed you can't rely on them. Just how they are now. /shrug

I was under the impression the only way to use a railgun flier now was practically landing on people & shotgunning.

I tend to only use the railgun crosshair as an indicator of stability if I can see the red dot, since my shots tend to go towards that more often than they go straight where I'm aiming.

The crosshairs aren't going to be perfect because weapons do not account for their placement, they aim in the exact direction you are, resulting in a parallel firing line to your direction of aim unless you place your weapon precisely and aim in a very specific direction.
