It is functionally one gun. Adding more changes it's properties, you just need to watch out you don't block their LOF.
It's really hard to create a design that would allow you free movement in battles and won't have half of your guns with blocked LOF at some enemy angle.

Just switch to Motar or Rail and play on the lower tiers.

Edit: Sorry people... >_< the game stresses me out to no end when I actually play it so I am projecting it in topic... Things just don't work the way they ought to in this game.

Things just don't work the way they ought to in this game.

Summary of the biggest issue being worked on in the game, if the official forums are anything to go by.

There are now exactly 2 designs in the game

Turtles

and Anti-noob ships that basically bring teir weapons that the lower tiers cannot deal with (because the tools to are in a higher tier)

It actually ruins the lower tier for people actually IN the lower tiers.

Totally agree. T3 plasma cannons that one shot kill all noobs are used in T1 somehow and it's so annoying. I played 5 game,s, and in 3 I got oneshit by a plasma. :|

I think they need to add slower turret turning speed for plasmas and maybe longer reload or something... i like smgs but they're not viable against plasma. Reminds me of the Planetside 2 pre-nerf scatmaxes.

I think you shouldn't be able to use categories from higher tiers in lower tiers.

Or, better yet, they should remove the tier limitation on different weapon types. What they have right now is pretty much the worst possible system.

SMG fix? SMGs are MUCH more accurate, but only kill one block per hit, of their tier. Needs double hits to get through higher level blocks.

So, tier 1 SMGs can ping off tier one armor, but get tanked by tier 2. In theory, tier 10 armor would be nearly indestructible to a tier one SMG. However, a tier 10 smg would still require one hit per tier 1 block.

I think beorn is recommending a fix for SMGs, rather than explaining the current mechanics of SMGs.

Update!

- cubes blocking placement of new blocks how highlighted in red
- Tier tags in chat reflecting the highest tier you have reached, T6+ get a blue name, T10 and admin get a gold name

- Spotting calls out the robot's 'class' as well, now! gunbed, plasma drone, scout etc. It's a little more useful, but the points for being a scout are still terrible.
- Two new icons for spotted robots: armour and weapon class. Circle = Plasma, Arrow = Rail, Cross = SMG, Eye = Scout (i.e. no weapon)

- Music
- 'Hint' button at the bottom of the battle countdown screen
- Enemy tag size scales so you can more accurately gauge distance
- Base capping is reset to the last segment when you take damage while capping.
- Range on enemy radar decreased by 15%
- Victory bonus increased by 20%

Yes, that's what they mean, I just did exactly that thing with my little SMG buggy. They were on 3 segments full and we only just starting to cap and we still won even though they had 3 on cap.
