what robocraft sorely lacks is the ability to at least make sure what sequence your weapons are firing in

burst would work great for skirmishers, alas

the thing with SMGs is that the skill check with them is bursting correctly for the right range. But its a silly system, why do they fire in sequence, why not all at once, it makes using SMGs annoying and gamey.
They're rapid-firing weapons, what difference does them firing in sequence make?
And they fire in sequence to limit to possible fire rate of any vehicle.
It should be rather obvious that there's an inherent advantage for all the guns to fire simultaneously for bursting purposes rather than to just have them help with fire rate... especially once you understand how to burst smgs to hit targets at any distance away for at least some damage.

well, it doesnt really make sense the way it is. If you're holding an smg in each hand(in any game that lets you do that?), do you time it so you alternate bullets from each gun? no thats silly. the whole weapon model is weird to the point they need to have an arbitrary cap of 6. and the whole 1 weapon type per robot makes me sad.

They should do away with the forcing you to have multiple weapons or something. The way it is now, it's not possible to have a tank with a single large main cannon and have any decent damage output, since you're supposed to have 6 whether it's plasma, lasers or a railgun. It forces you to design stupidly large and flat weapon platforms

Mattk, if they all fired at once, they'd have to get rid of the accurate 1-2 shot burst for balance. It would become a shotgun.
Adding more only serves to increase ROF and then to provide redundancy if they get shot off.

You can have fewer guns but you have to play radically differently & use different bot designs. Search the thread for 'cliff-fish' to see my main.
To fix this they should add lighter-weight-but-faster movement options & have larger weapon arrays decrease weapon tracking speed- so you could actually use speed as a defense.

Just treat 6 plasma cannons as a single turret, that's what they effectively are. If mad because they don't look like a single turret, well, there's not much to do about that.


Lord slowpoke, it's only really important for railguns, and for that you can check in practice mode, (I always do).

I've spent a lot longer then you being tired of turtles but being told that "the game doesn't make you make turtles" and then seeing the tons of turtles.

Also yes the fact that this game has No main weapons... they are all secondary weapons... Is something I noticed. It is kind of funny and makes me think these crafts are actually the size of small toys in spite of the cockpit.

So basically Robocraft is a fight between Road Warrior esk machines... and NOT high tech military vehicles.

I hear that at tier 8-10 you stop seeing Turtles, but I have yet to see those tiers.

I'd like to see your open cockpit design, exposed wheels, and single weapon Tier 1 vehicle that you win 50+% of the time with at least 3 kills a match.

Yeah I am moving the posts like mad, mostly because I don't want to get cop outs :P

I'd be worried about you using Plasma to get tons of kills (as, honestly if you are a good shot it is TOO good early tiers, being able to miss but still get the kill, my Hovercraft design for Plasma is actually broken because it allows a straight shot with Plasma) but I doubt you were using plasma.

by the by if you flip a hovercraft into its back, you can get straight Plasma shots... Essentially turning it into a legit cannon.

More like survive over half the time. 3 kills isn't uncommon, though usually I get my points from severing a big piece of a craft while the team mops up. (You get credit for destroying every block severed, so you'll see 80000 DMG shots)

Oh ho, moving the goal posts are we? Should we change it to 'a single SMG without letting go of "w"' while we're at it hmm?

I used a small open-cockpit huge-speed SMG-using little bastard to get 0-4 kills per match (depending on enemy plasma skill).
Can't prove with photos, so here's my word for it. :p

Hey at least I say it I do :P

Also GOODNESS the game has changed since I last played. Since they have you garbage points for anything that wasn't a kill.

I am going to have to jump back in at this rate... Though given my last design had a huge design flaw... On purpose (Raised Platform)... I am clearly not a person who should be playing a game about efficient design.
