Guys, any tips on how to protect turrets? I have tried making 3x3 blocks on top of my hull and putting turrets in the middle but still they get shot pretty fast. They just get shot off so easily and any tip would be appreciated.

If the turrets stand out they are even more frail

Try a longer nose on your tank, a flat top and the gun behind your seat

Also having a single gun is risky just like that

so, its seems the armor hitpoints given in game are correct. thats a L5s gun will kill 17 plastic blocks or 2.8 tier 5 armor blocks *per hit* with exeeding damage passed to the next block (but most likely not to the next block after that tho im unsure and this makes a huge difference).
depending on how much further damage is passed on, armor indeed seems kind of pointless.

anyway, the weakpoint of your guns is the tile they are mounted on, as the guns themself have rather lots of hp.
so the trick is to mount guns on tiles that are hard to hit, but in a way that the gun can fire free.
of cause... best it appears is not to get hit.

Motorbitch: If those stats are true, tiers should cost exponentially more robot rankings to advance to the next one if they aren't already and one L5 gun should put you at the edge of T1...

I wish we had more info for parts. For exemple, before buying one L2 wheel, I had no idea that they provide a whooping 48 hp (L1 and L1S both provide a mere 9 bhp). Had I known that, I would have skipped L1S and went straight for L2...

I'm preparing to build a flyer, but before I got started and wanted to test the physics.

My testing shows that you can lift 45 Tonnes with 96 kN of thrust.

This comes out to a value for g at about 2,13 m/s^2 which is two thirds of Mars' actual value for g.

How many blocks did you have for 45t? And how did you factor the weight of the thrusters?

6 plastic block = 30 T
1 seat = 15 T

Thrusters are weightless

Mass is given in kg, not in T.

How did you test the weightlessness of the thruster?

In this game mass is given by Tonnes.

It doesn't matter what units you use, as long as they fit together.
Using T and kN, yields the same results as kg and N.

I just got an idea to confirm the weightlessness of thrusters: lots of thrusters pointing up!

EDIT: Turns out thrusters do have mass, it's just not listed.

Now i need an idea to figure out the mass of a thruster....

Remove blocks from a working design (such as your 45 tonnes - 96 kN), and add (sideways or downwards) trusters. See how many trusters you can add for one block (or for 2,3,5,10 blocks)

Except mass is in Kg. Just look it up in the 'Q' menu.

As for thrusters, they only fire if you press a direction key, so add a lot of rearward-facing thruster and see how many you can rise with normal thruster. Since you know g from your previous experiments, you can figure the thruster's mass.

I actually wish we had more infos about you whole ship. Total mass, TWR, top speed...

But his g from previous experiments is wrong, since he didn't take the weight of his trusters into account.

EagleV: Right. Well, then he need to make a design that barley lift. Then remove block and add forward-facing thruster until it barely lift again. From that he can compute the weigh of thrusters, then compute g.
