So, who here is LinearAlgebra ingame? You've become my favorite target to strafe :P

No. I suppose there are similarities, but I'm fairly certain angry birds doesn't let me charge into a battalion of knights with a car made of circular saws.

That would be me. :D I tried to build my tank to maximize the effective armor length from the front, which lead to that hilariously bad top profile. Your flier completely wrecks me basically every time we meet, lol.

Just reached T2 and is currently working on upgrading my core armor to green, then I guess I'll try upgrading the wheels. I have a T3-S main gun but am still driving around on the stock T1 wheels...

wheels are all so important.
tho.. once you have the best wheels, you would not use the smaller wheels anymore.

so, dont get every next small upgrade.

3s, 5s is what i did.

also: new wheels usually mean a larger bot. they have much more bhp, so the bot needs to be longer or it will flip, and you can not compensate this with heavy cubes.

i learned that the seat itself is indestructible. its the tile its connected to thats important.
so... no need to build that cockpit. 2 tiles high and good armour in the base is all it needs.
also quie usefull to know in case one wants to kill stuff.

... Seriously?

I've identified five types of robos currently.
1: Wheelies - traditional wheel-and-armor guncars.
2: Floaters - add rotor blades, stay a few meters above the ground.
3: Flying Machines - jets and more jets to keep aloft and fast.
4: Hovertanks - uses rotor blades, but is too heavy to lift itself, effectively dragging along the ground.
5: Static structures - no propulsion, intended to sit still and cover a base.

Wheelies are pretty mobile and can range from fast buggies to heavy tanks, but are generally heavier, tankier gun banks used to soak enemy fire and return vollies.  They have the advantage of durability and firepower, but sometimes lack speed or maneuverability.  While easy to build and control, they're also prone to have heavily armored ones getting stuck on the terrain.

Floaters are also very easy to produce, as the rotors will generally stabilize themselves without having to worry about placement much.  They can lift and descend, allowing them to move and fire over obstacles, especially descending cliff faces that would hinder wheelies, while are somewhat unable to climb.  They can approach the same level of firepower and armor as wheelies, but are generally smaller, and become very obvious targets when lifted.

Flying Machines are built for hit and run tactics, utilizing jet engine speed and lack of restrictions to rise beyond weapon range and make 'bombing runs' to hit wheelies and floaters while escaping return fire.  They are extremely vulnerable, as their components are almost always perfectly exposed, and pack fewer guns, but have much higher speed.

Hovercraft pose as more maneuverable wheelies, they use rotors but cannot lift, instead scraping against the ground at slower speed.  They can have perfect 'wheel' coverage, blocking all fire as they can be built as 'sliding bricks' with no openings to hit the propulsion.  Despite relying on rotor blades, they can be built to roughly the same size and firepower of a wheelie, but are almost immune to getting stuck on terrain and can even function when flipped.

Static platforms are generally a bad idea.  While potentially massive and incredibly armored, they demand that the craft be built large and cover all angles with guns, or have a few guns with full rotation.  They've extremely prone to falling over at spawn, and can have the enemy come in from unusual angles.  A static platform of sufficient size could have rotor blades built underneath and function as a hovercraft instead, or 'sliding fortress'.

high tiers, rotor tanks become incredible durable.as they have all bottom free (the blades usually are mountet on top) they can mount vast amounts of guns.
they also can strafe: you can dodge while holding your enemy in view. tanks have to turn so its much harder to see wher you are pointing and thus avoid fliping friendlies, or getting stuck on rocks.

as i see it, the main advantage of wheelers is the shier top speed combined with tight turning circles.
it seems to be much more easy to deagress if the shit hits the fan as wheeler then as hover tank.

What do you mean wheeler can't strafe? My main guns are mounted on a slope raising from fron to back, so I can perfectly shoot broadside. Can't really shoot behind me though.

sure you can do that. your vehicle will point into a different direction then your guns tho.
as said, it can get a bit confusing, and its hard to see wher youre heading at times.
thous: flipped allies and getting stuck on rocks. wouldnt happen with a flyer.

anyway. somebody suggested me to use thrusters on my wheelers to help with steering. that gus a GENIUS!
realy, its the best idea since ham and eggs. im at 18 1s 2 2s and 2 3s now, and it turns on a dime with 2 combi and 2 engine wheels. (i hate 4 combi as it will turn tighter, but also become so very instable, and i dont want 6 wheels as i cant fully armor them).

The devs inaction at patching bugs is getting annoying.

Couldn't get a whole match without flying jokeys yesterday. The game is so full of idlers that most of the time I cannot even connect.

Solution is simple. Make match cost rp and refund them as courage bonus of you hit someone or if you got some capture points. (And getting one shotted doesn't count. )

I think I have found a bug I had hit on earlier, but didn't properly identify at the time:

When using a mix of top and front guns the hit animation will play for all guns when in the 31-41m range(beyond the range of top guns), but NONE of the shots will actually hit, not even the front guns that are within range.

The first time I noticed it, I just thought the enemy was too armoured, but I have just had the same bug against a flyer with green armour.
The funny thing was that he had the same bug, so we just sat there shooting at each other for a couple of minutes, before I got tired of it and captured the base.

Can somebody else confirm this?

I keep disconnecting after joining...Haven't been able to play since yesterday. I'd hate to loose RP for this bug.

The servers are simply overcrowded atm.. The devs are working on it.

I can confirm...tried using nothing but 5s front lasers, still limited to the same range as lower level guns
