Every part adds rating.  Rating above certain limits is your tier.  You get matchmade against similar tiers.

If I had to guess that is their max speed, and you'll need thrusters to get there.
Either that, or it's a bug.

Afaik, your max speed is limited by your worst tires. So don't mix wheels.

Every part adds rating.  Rating above certain limits is your tier.  You get matchmade against similar tiers.

Okay, and each part has a different amount it adds to the rating too (ROBOT RANKING right?).

I mark all my vehicles with a FACE-# at the beginning, so that's how you'll recognize me.

Anywho. Decided to move the Motherfucking Battle Wagon^TM up to tier two, and I am convinced that people stop knowing how to play after T1.

I am Elsior in game, up to Tier 3 now after I added 2 L3 guns on my eight-wheeler. However I lack the armour protection since my best armour is L1 and I still use many white blocks (plastic). I do play as fast skirmisher.

In term of progression I've unlocked L4 gun (not the S version though) and L2 armour. Everything else is still at basic level.

Has anyone had any luck with hovertank or flyer?

Flyer is awesome. As noob-tier I surrounded the pilot seat in basic hull, threw L1S hover fans on it, and put a L2 gun on the bottom.

I prefer my armored car, though. Just need better guns and armor so it's a proper L2.

is there any way to even remotely increase chances of playing with a friend? we've been joining at the same time every time, but always end up in a different match

we managed to play our first match together, but it seems like that was a complete fluke >:[

Alpha game is alpha. They'll probably add a squad system or something eventually.

Ah, I fell out of love with this game quite quickly. There is a fab idea in there, but to me it all feels a bit clunky, and in general your design does not make that much difference to performance.

The designs do make a difference, although right now they only fall between a ground-based tank, hovercraft, and flyer. Surely they will add more varieties along the way.

Hey, you didn't even break up the different types of ground based tank.
There's the large gun-bed types that just lay down a bunch of fire and have enough turrets as to be able to withstand a bunch of losses. Then there's thickly-armoured vehicles that have a few powerful guns, and do damage that way. Then there's the obnoxiously fast ones with light armour and high-tech wheels and they're hard to hit.
You can break down hover-vehicles into distinct categories too. Fliers only sort of, because they're pretty much useless.
