they do have a top speed given, but limiting the speed of the bot would not make any sense.

At low tiers hover and flyers sorta suck. In general you must either be able to fly higher than foe gun range or you must hug the ground.

I just got to tier 3 with a 6 lv2 drive wheeled landcrusier that is only 2 blocks high. Low profile helps a ton. Also low tier guns are near worthless, get at least t2 sp guns. Never buy guns that are not sp, the sp guns have far longer range and range matters.

flat indeed is good. remember, you dont have to armor the chair, but the bloc the chair is connected to.

anyway, can someone help me out here? i keep adding thrusters and wingy bits, but it just wont fly

I have a t2 hover and it works very well. It's also incredibly tiny.
L2s guns give me more firepower than the half of t2 that is just t1 tanks with too many guns and thrusters combined with l2s hoverblades allow me to go faster than most t2 wheeled vehicles.

It's gonna be hard to lift this thing into t3, though.

As Fluid cann attest to, this thing is beast, especially against tanks not paying attention. I can strafe and take away most of their guns before they can really shift fire to me, and all green armor does allow me to take a hit or two . I'm just finishing up upgrading the propulsion, and next I'm gonna work on orange armor for the front, then finish out getting t4s guns

Little flyers need much higher quality armor than bulky ground craft. Every so often some tiny flyer comes out and stares at me from a distance and I ruin them with 1-3 hits from the t3 sp topgun i have hidden on a low profile on the front of my ship.  Without a high Armor quality the 80power shot can tear off a vital area and cripple them. 
I have seen a few effective flyers though. Most are team supporters who effect the flow of battle more than doing damage.  Personally I only try to disable guns in the opening confrontation. Taking out 1/2 of three tanks guns is way better than 1 ko.  I reccomend flying out of range but in sight of the main foe group so that they must break up their front or let you shoot off their guns from behind.
