My hint for going fast? Tier 8+ thrusters on a hover. Try to overtier that thrust and use electroplates for protection against SMG cuts and bruises, and never ever get hit with plasma.
Current bots:
-01, 'Bulldog MK-II', Tier 7: Heavy plasma cruiser using briannova style landship design aspects, namely the invertebrate cabin. Uses a full front and side enclosure of tier 5 robowolf sandwich armor, with high amounts of connection points, and a 1 layer thick sheet of triforce for the roof. 8 Tier 4 wheels. 2x tier 9 plasma, 1x tier 8. Tier 5 radar. Tier 5 Alignment Rectifier.
-02, 'Overseer', Tier 6: Hybrid walker/flier railgun, quadruped leg arrangement with triforce separated tier 7 connection stalks to hook up to the main hull. Tier 8 railgun with 2x tier 4 reloaders. Tier 5 radar. Tier 5 wings/rudders, tier 7 legs, main thrust is tier 5 thrusters. Tier 5 Alignment Rectifier.
-03, 'Drift Raider', Tier 8: Lightweight electroplated SMG hover, Doublestacked hoverbike blade arrangement, 2x tier 7 in front, 2x tier 5 in back, with 2x tier 5 rear facing rudders for stability. 2x tier 9 thrusters for extreme speed. Two tier 9 SMGs, two tier 8, one tier 7, still upgrading. 3x tier 8 tesla blades in a downwards facing 'grill' at the front for instagib ambushing, protected with tier 7 electroplating on the sides. Tier 7 and 6 electroplate shell, contemplating upgrading 6s to 8s. Tier 5 and tier 7 radar jammers for stealth. Tier 9 radar for high awareness. Very weak tier 7 skeleton due to space constraints, I really packed in the hardware on this one.
-04, Previously 'Jump Jet Infantry' which you can find in this thread, now work in progress 'Graceful Asp MK-IV', Tier unknown:
The Graceful Asp is an old hybrid plasma hoverbike/flier design that I'm attempting to bring up into either tier 7 or 8, currently struggling with apparant rudder control issues as well as space concerns with fitting electroplating, not to mention cube shortage.
The design will hopefully borrow the tier 9 thrusters from Drift Raider for superior speed.
-05, 'Blimpy', Tier 6: Medic Drone, Has near-perfect buoyancy, Tier 8 thrusters for forward movement as well as a smattering of other thrusters for all facings. 4x Tier 5 electroplates covering sides and 2x tier 4 for the top, far from full coverage but this thing is never meant to get hit anyway. 4x Tier 7 Nanos mounted below. Tier 5 radar. Craft is designed to tuck itself behind hard cover and hide in hard to get locations, as well as reach just about anybody needing healing.
-06, 'Flatman', Tier 4: Light Plasma Tank, Just a quick put together for experiencing treads, not likely to last. 4x tier 4 treads. 4x tier 4 plasma directly mounted on treads, tier 5 robowolf chassis, 4x tier 4 electroplate on front-top, 2x tier 4 on sides of front treads. Tier 5 radar, tier 5 radar receiver. 4x tier 3 radar jammers on bottom since I had more robot ranking. Very flat.
-07, 'Wonderful', Tier 6: Hybrid walker/tread... thing. Seen earlier in this thread. 2x robowolf legs on front, 1x tier 7 tread as the main body itself. Tier 6 and 7 cube framework around tread-body. Chair is mounted directly on tread. 4x tier 7 nanos as the best role appears to be healing due to being able to get to and fit just about anywhere. Tier 7 radar receiver, 2x tier 1 radars since this thing relies on teammates more than most bots due to horrid speed and fragile health. Tread body seems to make this thing quite survivable against plasma splash if you can get healed.
So something I've been wondering and the wiki does not say, Do railguns have infinite range? Because sometimes I can see the glow of guns/jets/electroplating beyond the sight distance, but a shot that seems like it should hit does nothing, the cursor doesn't even flash blue for hitting electroplate. And since I can't see them I can't tell if I actually did miss or the shot just did nothing.
Railguns cannot hit outside of your view distance, SMGs CAN. Yes the sniper weapon has less range than the close quarters weapon
What were they thinking?
