I need to get into tier 8 in order to get the Teslas. The main idea of mine is a dragster-style reallyquickbot that just melees. Horrible idea, but I keep one garage slot called "Help Me I'm Insane" for a reason. :p

I'm curious if it would be possible to mount Tesla's on a jet and ram into bombers.

There's some hilarious micro-tesla fliers.  They handle in strange and exotic ways, and every pilot claims "They're useless.  You get 1 hit out of 10 attempts and get shot down SO OFTEN... but that one hit is REALLY fun to score."

Now I really want to make a thruster sled armed only with tesla blades.

And call it the banzai.

Turned Gills into a half track to free up more CPU, so far is working out fine, turns a little too quickly for my tastes but it's alright, thickened the armor shields in the side and made them longer to accommodate the tracks.

What this game really needs are some good mechanical parts, such as swivels or turret-like this (with the added stationary weapons, of course :p).

I'd use the turret-bottom-thingies to make a Lodestar xD

So after fleshing out my Artillery Tri-Tank and permanently postponing construction on my Fuck You Fortress, I turned my mind to mulling over what else to make.

So a few images swim past my mind and I remembered a sort of scorpion shaped robot from somewhere, and I scoffed to myself, because a huge tail with guns on it is basically a massive target and will get immediately sawed off probably seven times out of ten unless you make it super robust. And then some random fragments of Sun Tzu quotes drifted into my brain and I thought... but what if that's what you wanted your opponent to do?

Decoy limbs that only have like one or two guns, possibly sub-tier guns, on them sticking way up and getting shot at while the majority of the firepower on your body murdered the idiots shooting at your decoy tail. And even if they don't shoot at it, well you have extra guns shooting them from a probably decent angle. You're creating an extraneous limb that will only hurt your main body if some massive fuckoff railgun hits it, and that nobody would really target normally, then hyperinflating its priority in your opponents head by giving it the semblance of threat.

Now I really need to grind some RP back up and do some in-game testing.

IMO, exposed elevated guns are a great thing for stand-off situations provided you have medics.  You get better angles, distractions from the main body of your vehicle, and relatively easily repaired weapons.  If your tail or tower isn't terrible and terribly placed, it'll still have a lot of protection from electroplates and block strength.

If you're brawling though, they'll get shot off and you're unlikely to get repaired at all or fast enough to matter.

Tall gun mounts can work well for rails, especially when fighting other rails, as you can get one tower shot off and lose one gun, without losing the rest, and still be able to reasonably return fire.  Similar for plasma vs rail.  Works very best with a medic handy.

I hear legs plus tank treads are less effective than just mounting tons of rudders and down thrusters for climbing stuff. Which is sad, I wanted to be Shagohod. :(

Treads and legs don't work very well together in general.  They got too slow, don't climb sharply enough, and are excessively large and heavy.  Just not a good combo.

Okay. I don't get planes. At all.
Is there even any way to pitch up? If not, how the hell do you move around at all?

You should really look to the wilderness for your stealth ideas, it has been doing it much longer than you have after all. Take squids for example, that ink trick works pretty well, and in water too! So you just sneak into the dam upsteam, dump several megatons of distressed squid into it, then break the dam. Boom, you suddenly have enough water-proof stealth for a whole city!

Place up and down thrusters on the front(keep it lopsided), that way when you press space, your bot will aim upwards, make sure to tweak a hundred times in practice mode. Left and right aligned thrusters can be distributed evenly between front and back. Make sure you can guesstimate where the center of mass of your bot is.

How I went about building a bot, first build a line along the center of the seat, use sloped blocks to snake up a bit then a white block to connect two large thrusters so if one breaks off, both break off and the slopped blocks will soak excess damage so seat isn't destroyed. then I build a shell somewhat around the two main thrusters and start attaching maneuvering thrusters. I tend to use just a few helium blocks to keep a little stability while flying.

Oh...yea...I forgot about the new wing thingies that are a waste of time and huge bullseye can be good if you dont use helium. It should be mentioned that using a flying bot you want to keep yourself a bit away from the enemies...although I'm going to have to try a tesla blade to ram into enemies, I tend...to at least be decent at flying around, so lets see.

So...thrusters are fine at 12 per direction then start diminishing up to 25? interestng...

I find that if you put rudders in front and aerofoils at the back, you get much better performance from your plane.
