I've tried out treads...
They're good, but not as armored as I thought, which ended up with me being immobilized with a full arsenal several times... Their "multiple mounts" are kinda strange, though.

So treads.  Tried 'em, here's my take on things.

They're pretty much the middle ground between wheels and legs.  They don't have the speed, low weight, or maneuverability as wheels, but they're still faster than legs, more climby than wheels, and more ground-clingy than wheels.  Their size and attachment points make them VERY easy to completely surround, resulting in extremely tank-looking builds.  They're also fairly wide and fairly low, so you can end up with longer, flatter designs with bumps for internal equipment and an overall extremely solid look.

There's two major things I noticed.  1: They're quicker than legs but can surmount more obstacles than wheels.  They're great for getting over like half the obstacles on the map, including MOST of the crater map - you can even ramp over the crater's steep walls, and on the ice maps you can get onto the edge flats.  2: When you stop, they IMMEDIATELY stop and stabilize.  This makes them AMAZING for railgun use.  With their limited climb, speed, and stability, they're pretty great if you want to build a railgun-based anti-plasma-bomber.  They can be thick and sturdy enough to survive hits, and stable enough to get accurate shots.

I really like them, and have begun plans to build a 'dwarven siege castle'.

It's known as the Oppai-Kaiju effect. The islands of Japan generate a sort anti-gravity field, which allows breasts to behave as if in microgravity. It's also what allows Godzilla and friends to become 50 stories tall, and lets ninjas run up the side of a skyscraper.

Will do, just a matter of funds.  It's basically a square brick, with treads on the bottom, and a tower reaching upwards.  I'm debating leaving it totally unarmed, and just slowly rolling to the enemy base based on weight of armor and value of medics.

Actually, how does that work?  Me and a friend were discussing the concept.

Anyway, meet Gills.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Fairly sturdy, even when he isn't half cheating by being one tier lower then he should be, he also reminds me vaguely of a fish, even though he looks nothing like one.

He's there when I want to have a fun and entertainment rather then fighting my way up the tiers.

Actually, how does that work?  Me and a friend were discussing the concept.
For some reason the legs are capable enough to rotate the vehicle. The chair being on the tread seems to be somewhat resilient, although it's likely far more practical to just build a proper armored bot.
Plasma tends to wreck it pretty bad, though in this configuration it is capable of putting the hurt on plasma bombers somewhat reliably.
I have replaced the tier 8 SMGs with four tier 7 nanos, acting as a medic with this vehicle is far more useful a role for it. I find it is actually quite compact and the legs are able to keep it in places where it can't easily be shot. Furthermore in both configurations all weapons rarely get blocked by the legs, which suprised me.

The biggest problems I'm seeing are that the legs slow it down somewhat compared to if it was just using treads, however they give an added degree of mobility that is quite useful, it is still able to move with one of the legs blown off even though it struggles to stay on track. Obviously it is only capable of lateral movement when both legs are gone.

When climbing cliffs it has a nasty tendency to slip to the right and left at times. Going down a cliff is very hazardous unless you go backwards down it. On ice it is slightly odd to control but very manageable due to the legs.

It certainly never seems to die to a single shot though, which is nice. And I have never managed to flip it.

I find myself wondering if a completely/mostly immobile fortress to defend the base would be viable. Sadly, I lack the levels, cash, and technology to realize this dream.

Far too often have I realized that although we're kicking ass and taking names, the enemy made a big push on an outside flank and now the last four are sitting on our base capping, and even a wheeled Jet Buggy isn't usually fast enough to retreat back in time to do anything even if it only advanced half the map.

A nitro boost module would be really handy sometimes.

I think it'll actually call out "Turrets" with the spotting mechanic. That said, how much armor/dakka could you get if you didn't need to work about movement? There's also the balloon option, just strap a bunch of helium onto a high tier gun.

I've seriously considered making a gun blimp.  As much high-tier helium as I can force on, and then just PILES of armor, with a few guns.

I'm also still considering my dwarven siege tower, which would be very close to immobile...  I'm just running into issues that are mainly funding and design.  I made one, but it looked a bit too much like a penis.

A nitro boost module would be really handy sometimes.
You know, now that there are melee weapons that can be used in addition to regular weapons, there's a possibility for a "Dash" weapon.
Like, they'd call it the "Mag Wave Booster", or something; it would resemble a cross between a thruster and a rail cannon. Firing it would first plasmatize the air in front of it, and then it would pull the craft really fast along the line of charged air. This could be used as a really quick charge attack or a quick retreat. It would be generally faster than most movement... but it would be a weapon. That does no damage on it's own.
Having only one would severely unbalance the craft when fired, as the craft would be pulled behind the turret, causing it to flip over unless the turret was on the front. Having more than one would fire all of them simultaneously, pulling the craft between them evenly. It would also increase reload speed slightly.
To make an effective Mag Wave robo, you would of course need to use Tesla Blades. Introducing Mag Wave Boosters would necessitate the increasing of Tiers in which Tesla Blades are available; let's say, make them both T5 to T10.
Putting Mag Waves onto a ground-based bot would mean you'd want to aim carefully not to flip, but it would mean limited jump potential, too.

Odds are this will never happen, though.

No, because: One pilot seat, One White Block, One Mag Rail - faff about the map at supersonic speeds!
