I stopped playing a while before they did the tier lock, and I haven't really gotten back into it because of the lock. I'm just sort of stuck fumbling around in T2-3 never getting motivated enough to make a survivable robot. :| I'm excited for the treads, because I can definitely get to those in the near term and they sound like they could make some interesting designs. I'm annoyed about the tesla blades because they sound hilariously great and who the hell knows when I'm going to care enough to get them.

I think they're encouraging people to buy T7-ish prefab tanks.

Its like a mmo that forgets the half that isn't endgame exists and then wonders why their new things aren't played as much as they thought they'd get played.

At this rate, I'm not even sure if they care that their new things aren't being played as much as the old stuff. Let's see:

• Walker legs were a fun gimmick for about -3 seconds (anything that's glued to a solid surface becomes easy pickings for bombers).
• Nanos were viable until you realise that most of your teammates can be brain dead (that said, I do have a medic bot sitting in one of my garages).
• Rails were okayish to play, but suffer from similar issues as nanos. Also, since the fog update (if you can see it, you can hit it), rails became even more challenging to play well.

I've given up on the gimmicks and stayed with plasma bombers and SMG hovers for fun and profit. Tank treads might change my mind a little, not too sure about the tesla blades yet, seeing that they complement your regular weapon loadout rather than replacing your main guns. Other than that...

I've had pretty good success with walker legs.  They're like wheels but a little slower and a lot more versatile.  They don't pin you down any more than wheels do - if you stop moving then it doesn't matter what propulsion system you aren't using.

I like the versatility, but it could use a bit less vulnerability.

Anyway, I may be able to finally do the Scorpion tank design I thought of doing pre-tank tread launch

Had a really good round, which would have been enough to get the next tier of SMG, except that the last member of the enemy team shot me from behind, slowly killing me with his plasma while my team failed to react. The patch needs to get here sooner.

I am using legs and really tiny wings so I am faster than most hovers.

Not that I'm successful with that, but is very hard sometimes to say something suck without having explored the combinations and interactions with other parts.


That said, my money maker is a smg hover

I do agree that these sort of balancing comments need to be considered from both sides of the gun, which is why I did have a rail satellite at one point.
Early review of new patch: Tank treads are awesome, but ridiculously heavy. Try not to get flipped at all, as a single rectifier (even T9) won't right you at all.
Have yet to use the melee blade so unsure.

Wheels are worse at turning and have less traction now, though. It's rather annoying when your vehicle decides it wants to turn on it's own. The hero bonus is great though, and you don't even need to stay and spectate.

edit: Is it just me or are T5 electroplates the worst design ever? I seriously am almost unable to place them anywhere.

What happens if you put wheels and tracks on a tank?

Eh, I haven't tried making a halftrack yet. Probably worth a shot though.

T5 electroplates are odd, I end up building around them rather than the other way around.

Treads seem to be great at slopes. Haven't tried the more vertical slopes yet though.
