I just started playing this yesterday, and am enjoying it so far.

I think it's really funny how the helium blocks are so tiny compared to how much lift they generate.  Totally unrealistic, but I guess that's for balance reasons.

Coincidentally, that's the same reason headlights cost like 24 CPU - they make you shine like a beacon, but also makes it more awkward to get a direct shot on your equipment, and too many headlights can overwhelm lesser computers and cause lag for players.  This does mean you could build a 'tackle robo' with just a ton of headlights, that you shine at someone and when they look at them their computer freezes, but then you're betting that your headlights are stronger than their desktop, and if even one enemy can handle it then you get shot pretty quick.

Well that and this game has a MechWarrior vibe where different planetary conditions can require different tools to thrive.

Of course I don't think that is going to go anywhere in this game.

Maybe helium has negative mass in this alternate reality, so the more you put into a container, the lighter it becomes.  That would explain why the helium containers look like reinforced tanks.

Its less' let us put you into these roles' and more 'Hey, lets restrict the interesting parts to the top half of tiers! That'll make it a better sandbox fighting game, right?'

Actually, I see where Antioch is coming from re: not letting you mix weapon types. The only reason I see not to do it is because it would invalidate their current spotting/class-ID system.

The spotting came long after the one-weapon-per-bot thing, though. That was a thing as soon as plasma was.

They do seem to be planning to add more and more classes. (http://steamcommunity.com/games/301520/announcements/detail/172588988971609333)
And you can have three vehicles, so you get to choose three classes to play as.
