that's also why I prefer hovers, if they flip me the only thing they get is even more guns shooting at them
I've never gotten into hovers. What benefits do they offer over straight-tanks?
Pros and cons?
They're usually quicker.
More weapon mounts, as the underside is usable as well.
Hovers don't need particular placement and can't be blocked - you can place hovers inside solid armor blocks with no ill effects.
Plasma has to score a direct hit, usually.
With some finaggling, you can climb mountains.
Higher firing platform for less obstructions.
They never sit perfectly still, making their aim fidgety for SMG and impossible for rail.
Built wrong, they'll flip extremely easily.
They have to be a generally lighter weight than tanks, or else they scrape the ground much more slowly.
The height means you often appear as an easier target (though you can drop down as well).
Tanks can use T1 wheels at all tiers, slowly, while hovercraft really need to maintain similar-tier blades, which are more CPU intensive.
My conclusions? Hovers are good for fast attack craft, particularly if you can sport the armor to weather the priority targeting, and make decent plasma strafers. They make terrible rail platforms, though you can mitigate this a bit by putting weak wheels on the bottom so you can drop and stabilize yourself before firing, then hover again to move quickly. Hovers in general seem to function best as support or flank roles, not so much as front-line contenders but excel at slipping around quickly and getting behind things, as they have a lot of the same speed as a flier but without the 'in the sky' profile.
