The tooltip suggests fully dark maps might be implemented, but atm the best use is to fool railgun snipers.

I don't have problems with SMG's. Mostly because most people don't know to burst- or tap-fire them at longer ranges. :p

Whoops, didn't check exactly how large the image would be. Fixed now.

SMGs don't fire bullets in this game, no gravity to affect shot grouping :P

Thanks, just helping to spread the word that a biggish update is on the way (no ETA yet though :s)

The clippings are from the dev team, and seem to be in the style of some older TF2 updates. I think of them as teasers rather than actual changelogs though.. :3

The update isn't live yet, so I don't know what sort of changes they've made to repair costs.

Flyers seem like a massive waste of time.

Easily spend four times as much time just to get the stupid thing to vaguely fly straight, just trial and error.

Go into battle with derp plane, get seen once and every smg on the map, and most of everything else, will shoot you over anything else.  You get hit once and one of the gigantic wings spontaneously explodes and you plummet.

And then the idiotic repair system taxes away 90% of your income.

Flyers are better at the lower tiers and are part of the "Ha ha ha! you don't have the tools to defeat me" set up.

They kind of lose out massively later when the SMGs are overpowered (rather then early Tiers where they are underpowered)

@greatorder: It sounds like they have made repair costs much friendlier, yes. We'll see when the update hits, I guess.

re: building aircraft: I sympathise with your frustrations on getting aircraft to fly straight, having tried to build simple aircraft properly. There are suggestions over on the official forums to add a center of mass indicator to help players build aircraft which will at least fly straight. If devs ever add that, it would help immensely; otherwise, the next best thing you can consider is posting pictures of your aircraft here and hopefully someone can help you figure out how to make your aircraft work. (If I'm online and see a picture, I'll try and help whoever posts.)

re: flyer balance: There's a counterargument that aerofoil flyers suffer worse performance at lower tiers because of roboranking limits. Essentially, the parts required to make a low tier flyer restrict the amount of EHP and/or weaponry you can bring with you, compared to ground bots in the same tier, as they can use on tier or T-1 movement parts and put better guns on. As the roboranking limit increases, flyers get tankier and at T10 when everything caps out, plasma bombers suddenly become flying fortresses.
In short, the majority is of the opinion that flyers are OP, but only after you get past the initial steep curve of building a functional flyer.
