[ISG] Realms Immaterial
« on: January 01, 2014, 04:26:25 am »

You're clutching a spear stabbing clean through your chest. Standing in front of you, holding the other end of the polearm, is a knight, clad in midnight-black armor with strange symbols on his chest, seemingly moving and writhing on the cold steel. He raises the visor on his helmet, and you see not a face, but a moving mass of darkness. Somehow, though, it manages to speak in a voice that is commanding, regal, and yet somehow almost demonic.
It says to you, in this harsh, unforgiving voice, "Pd pfii gdds qkko", in red, even. With this, he releases the spear, and you fall backwards, through the ground below you, and darkness overtakes your vision.

Jdmfoofom Qlgzurslko

You wake up, slowly. Looking around reveals that you're in a small field located inside. The ceilings and walls are forged of strong-looking, grey stone. In the corner is a sturdy and ornate wooden door. You try to remember the circumstances that brought you here, which brings about a worrying realization:
You have no memory.
There are a few blurry recollections, but they're disjointed, and make little sense. If you didn't know better, you'd think that you're in a poorly written story that uses "you" too much. Regardless, you can remember standing in front of several men in hooded, black robes, kneeling in respect, as well as laying down in a bed with several wires attached to you, but little to nothing else.
Still, though, some of your memories are slowly coming back into focus. Among these are your name, class, and gender. What were they again? Actually, now that you think about it, you probably could have figured out that last one out pretty quickly.

Ah, that's right. You're Nocast Algiith, the hermaphrodite necromancer. Yeah...Necromutation is an interesting spell to miscast. Too bad you can't remember how to properly cast it at this point, let alone miscast it again. You DO seem to be able to recall a few spells now, but it's still a far cry from your full repertoire. You also remember the fact that you have access to Hammerspace! In it, you find a small dagger that's probably only moderately more dangerous than your fists, a yellowed and sadly empty grimoire, what appears to be a note. Besides this, your Hammerspace is almost full! You can only fit one more object of indeterminate size before you have to drop something.

You begin to speak the "words" written on the parchment. You're not sure it's even possible to pronounce correctly, and nothing happens when you do struggle to say it. [11] However, you think this might be a code of some sort. You're not sure what code exactly it is, though.
You try to open the door, and you find that it swings open, albeit with some slight difficulty. You chant the incantation for Harm Touch, [3] but you stumble over some of the words. You don't miscast it, but you don't cast it either. As you touch the door, the grass behind you wilts and grays quickly, while the flowers rot, and the light, which had previously been flooding the room from seemingly everywhere, becomes dim and dismal.

You step into the new room, and as the door slams shut behind you, it fuses into the wall, becoming indiscernible from it's surrounding. Different doors, however, lie to the north and south. In the center of the room lies a pyramid-like stone tabled with writing on one side, flanked by eerie blue fire. The pyramid is split up into three lines:

Take up arms and take heart, for He has awoken. The seal is broken, though His name goes unspoken.

You go to the door, and feel an odd feeling of excitement. Somehow, in some part of your mind, you know this door is important. You reach for the door, and swing it open...

Your eyes are assaulted by an incredibly bright light. Soon, you adapt to the blinding illumination, and find yourself looking outside. The sun hangs early in the sky, but it seems far larger and brighter than it should be. A small, dented sign hangs on the door. As you turn around to look at the building, you notice a large, purple rune on it, as well as a blackened hole in the roof.

You look out at the field, and see a thick, knotted forest, a large grouping of hills, and what seems to be a town.

...Yeah, this game's dead, and it was pretty much a doomed concept from the start.
