Celles Gartens and Gregory Guy:
“Desperate times call for desperate measures, as they say. You’ll have about 30 gold a month as of now, with 25 devoted to the payroll of five specialists.”

Joes Arlandt:
“They are no more than children, with no memory of their forebearers. They will be easy to mold into a new, constructive image. We predict that, if they volunteer, they will be used to protect trade secrets.”
He’s lying out his ass, judging from his fidgeting, and general nervousness.

"What about feeding them? Do you know what their dietary needs are?" Continue grilling him on every detail of his plan. While I'm at it, gain a psionic focus assume that I already spent a considerable amount of time to become focused earlier, because you can carry those around all day, then use that focus to make a concentration check to use Detect Psionics without any signature on Redmountain, looking for mind control effects.

"We have a large supply of the fungus we discovered in their caverns. We discovered no remains of animals or any other plants, so we are almost certain that they eat this fungus. If that does not work, we will bring in some livestock to act as hosts."

"No... This is a job. Tonight or day after tomorrow."

Go find the man wanting the documents retrieved and ask him what, when, and how much. Suggest it can be done tonight after we meet the scryers or the night after we do the scrying.

"Well, sooner is always better than later when money is involved. Count me in."

Follow Edgric. I want to be in on these negotiations if I'm going to be part of this job.

"Hmmm. Will equipment be available on request? I have a suspicion that something to keep our minds free of their influence may be needed."

"Indeed, I myself was disabled by the creatures' defenses, and I've had to deal with dominated allies as well. Can the Coalition get us artifacts to protect against psychic control? Otherwise, I doubt we'll be able to end the threat efficiently."

((I need to update more frequently.))

Alaris Valentis, Edgrick Browne and Cade Thorngage:

You return to tavern where you first met the young man, and he is there, sitting at one of the center tables. Alaris keeps her hood on, as she recognizes Nice cloak, or, rather, Xavier Wentra.
You all go to sit with him, and he buys you a few drinks as he accepts your proposal.
“Tomorrow night would be best, gentlemen. Payment on delivery, of course. As of now, I’m willing to offer 900 gold for this… favor.” He turns to Alaris. “Now, kindly introduce your associate to me.”

Celles Gartens and Gregory Guy:

“Well, you have two options when it comes to equipment. Firstly, you could request it, but we don’t have any in stock, and our most experienced magewrights are at a loss on how to produce such items. Secondly, one of our rookies is showing promise and claims he can succeed where others have failed. If you like his work, you could hire him, but that will have to come out of your budget. His supplies, will, of course, be provided by the Coalition. His name is on the list.”

The DM forgot. You don't detect any psionics on him.

Check with Cade:
"Can we fit this in tomorrow night?" I don't know how long your... work might take to complete? And I don't know if you will have anything prepared that might help us with this?"

Then to the young man:
"900 gold? Back here late tomorrow night?"

Then finally to Alaris:
"So, tomorrow night suits you?"

"very well then. I still wish to inspect your mine. As I said earlier, I might be able to discover additional valuables, and discover threats, like these puppeteers, before they become a problem."

Alaris Valentis, Edgrick Browne and Cade Thorngage:
“You understand the terms as I do.”
As Alaris reveals herself, the man takes on a surprised expression.
“Well, this is a strange coincidence. An ex-business associate aquired some business documents of mine, and I would like to repay the ‘favor’ in kind.” A twitch in his mouth, and an awkward glance tells you that there’s something more going on here. (Sense Motive > Bluff)

Joes Arlandt:
“A reasonable request. Hix’ix’ix, can you show our guest the mine in question?”
The kobold nods and shows you to the a small, makeshift shack set up  against the mountain. Inside, he takes two lanterns from a shelf and gives one to you. There is a mine entrance in a wall, which he enters. As you two walk down the shaft, he begins to explain what they found and how they think it came to be.
“Thisss ssshaft, the one we are in right now, wasss dug by our men. It intersssected with another sssshaft, dug long ago. Asss we underssstand it, minersss came to Kalgena hundredsss of years ago in sssearch of wealth. They found the Puppeteersss, or maybe the Puppeteersss found them. They collapsssed the mine, sealing the Puppeteersss back into Kalgena.”
The shaft runs almost perpendicually into another one. Hix’ix’ix takes a right and about 30 seconds later, he stops suddenly. “Here’sss one of their victimsss.”
At your feet lies a skeleton, next to some scratches on the relatively smooth shaft walls.
