A chorus of voices screech in your head "NO!" and layers of force suddenly spring up around Elias's face, but your mighty blow smashes through them.
Your blow sends him flying back a few feet, out into the street. (23 He lies on the ground, moaning for a moment, before reaching into his vest, and withdrawing a potion, which he downs. His wounds begin to stitch closed, and he retreats into the middle of the street.
"Come and try and get me, coppers!"

Alaris looks confused. Elias is such a nice man; why would Gregory hit him like that? In fact, Gregory is just a lousy cop. What have cops ever done for her? She draws her shortsword, staring angrily at Gregory.

This time, Elias has no shields to protect him, and steals himself for his fate, which is 16 damage.

Alaris looks confused. Elias is such a nice man; why would Gregory hit him like that? In fact, Gregory is just a lousy cop. What have cops ever done for her? She draws her shortsword, staring angrily at Gregory.

As you see Gregory almost impale your only real friend in this cold, hard city, a wave of rage crashes over you, and you charge Guy. (Attack roll = 6.) You slash at the air, angrily.

Elias dives away from both of you, blue force blocking Ragefist's opportunity attack. Reaching into his vest, he withdraws a round metal capsule the size of his fist, stuffs a bag inside, and lobs it next to Guy. On it's second bounce, it violently explodes, dealing 11 fire damage, and releasing a putrid gas cloud into the air, surrounding everyone except Elias. Alaris gets a little lightheaded ((effectively unaffected for this round)), and Gregory doesn't breathe... so... Elias is pretty screwed, isn't he?

(Will roll to escape Charm = 1+3=4) Alaris is sure that Elias didn't mean to hit her with smoke, and continues slashing at the air around Gregory.
