[3.5e D&D] A Game of Death and Destruction
« on: December 30, 2013, 05:58:57 pm »

Hello, people of the internets! This is a rather special game of D&D. It takes place in the standard generic and rather undefined setting, with the standard rules. Each player begins at ECL 14, and they may only be Level 10 at most (or, in other words, through templates and advanced races, you must have an LA of at least 4, including racial Hit Dice), and may only apply one template. Wealth is standard for the level, abilities are rolled with Point Buy, and all Wizards of the Coast books are allowed. You may take any alignment, may split into separate parties as you wish, and may be as powergamerish as you wish. The catch? My goal will be to kill you in the best ways I can find. Your goal is to survive and reap the rewards. When you die, if you wish, you may ask your patron gods to restore you to life up to six times. You may purchase more batches of six lives in exchange for certain sacrifices, rituals, and such. If you lose all your lives, you make a new character. Have fun!

Current Players:
Rolepgeek: Osoero the Hyper Doom Pixie
Hanslanda: Sylen the Scary Bard
Delioth: Druun'Zakk the Minotaur Artillery Specialist
Gamerlord: Kanshiro the Baby Ghost Mind Flayer
MNII: Farrago the Cleric Wizard

I'm sensing a LOT of T1 classes in the future of this thread.

Indeed. Then I bring in Anti-Magic Field and they all die.

What restrictions are you placing upon yourself as a DM though? I mean, you could just say roll for initiative, ok on 12 the sun expands to envelope the planet and there's an anti-magic field also. Or the orc pulls a lever and the dungeon falls in and there's an anti-magic field.

Is it, like, stuff that's CR-appropriate or at least CR-themed (so this dungeon has stuff in it that's CR 10-14 for example)?

CR-Themed (Relatively), and no Falling Space Rocks. That, and the fact that my goal is to entertain, and cheaty ways of killing off players are boring.

I dunno, Paranoia has shown us that as long as it's entertaining for the DM that's enough ;P

Hence the Paranoia-esque extra life system.

Although I don't feel like making a super-powerful character, I do enjoy watching people get murdered in creative ways.

Might as well chalk it up to Pathos.
As this point we might as well invoke interpretive dance and call it a day.

You could always roll up a normal character and make the DM feel bad for obliterating you from orbit.

Is any homebrew stuff allowed to be presented?

I still wanna try out my antimagic templar prestige class thing.

Are we allowed to play as....kobolds?

You might actually survive longer as a result. You never know.

Does this mean ... the kobold was made by the dragon? It looks like it means the kobold is venerable, not that the kobold was made by a venerable dragon. But when you say it, it could go either way.
