It's a lot for a single bullet. Can we go get this key so we can move on?

Camille shrugs, "Well you wouldn't need to fire that many bullets. You probably fire off more finding the keys."

"Ambush, you insult, me sir!" Lilith giggles  "i was merely stating that this caravans cargo is our guaranty, to be held to make them pay if needs be.
"If bullets are that costy you should get a cheaper weapon, see these Shurkens you get them back after you use them"

"Aw... Well, you are the Boss..."

(Sorry, man, I was doing some stuff for Christmas, I couldn't really do much RP-wise)

I hate to tell you this bro.....Christmas was over like a week ago.

Do you see this bullet? This would cost at least 20 dollars, pre-war.

....What caliber bullet is that? We had this discussion earlier, but you can get even a hunting grade .50 for about five dollars each 0_0.

Boomer goes to private for a second, working on something in secret. Use your imagination.

So everyone gathers together in their four-man band. You have no clue what the key is, where it is, why you need it, or why it was taken. But you want to find it. That much is apparently certain. It is still snowing hard, the enemy will be difficult to track in the dark and their tracks will be covered by snow soon. The caravan stopped moving, and is now wondering why it was even trying to get anywhere in the middle of the night in the freezing cold.

What do you do now?

Camille tries to follow the tracks as best as she can, before they're obscured by the snow. Given that the tracks are made by giant hopping rabbits, this shouldn't be too hard.

If that is true, it would have been good to know earlier. Depleted uranium is incendiary, due to being pyrophoric. And you probably won't find anything under 30mm. Tungsten would probably be a better choice for anti-personnel weapons, and even then it is anti armor and does less damage against unarmored opponents.

...Insanely drunk is believable. Are we going to use that excuse a lot? Even match-grade (That is, the best and most expensive) .50 BMG is five dollars. Just for the record, AP is 5-3.55 and API is 4-2.8 for one round and you can buy them online. I love the internet.

( No, this is basically the only time I'm using that excuse, and even then, that's because you let me loot 5 bottles of whiskey )

I thought you would have them in moderation, not chug them all at once! That should have lasted at least until the next city... I guess I forgot this was a dwarf fortress forum for a second.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Your drunken party begins following the huge holes in the snow left by the tibbars. It is harder then it looks, but that is mostly because everyone is drunk. You end up walking several miles across the snow, though the tracts start to be come covered up the morning light helps find the faint two-foot deep tracts.

You stop following them when you reach the top of a particularly large hill. From this hill, you can see what appears to be the raider's town. It is surrounded by a spiked wooden wall, with several heads on pikes around it. Inside the walls are a bunch of tents made of tibbar fur, ranging in size from a personal tent to a circus tent. Men are walking around, celebrating and drinking. There are a bunch of tibbars as well, walking around grazing, being trained in a corral on the far end of the town, or celebrating among the men. Some of the men appeared to be trying to get a tibbar drunk, giving it a bucket full of whiskey.

What do you do now?
Additional: Nothing much, character wise.

"Lucky rabbit"

Check for gun emplacements, guards, weapons, and strongholds in the town.
