You wake up from the cryosleep you've been subjected to. It's difficult for you to move, and your joint creak painfully as you stand up. Your eyes open, and you see a clean, white room. You're humanoid in appearance, with mottled gray and purple scales covering your body. You have eight eyes, placed like a spider's, and your hands end in three claws. You have a short prehensile tail.
This, however, is rather likely to change soon. This is because you're a genethief. Members of your species can eat carcasses of lesser beings, and assimilate their body parts and mental faculties into your own.
The cryosleep has damaged your memories somewhat, and you can't quite remember what you were called. It lingers at the edge of your thoughts, though. What was it again?

Yes...That's right. You're name is Alex Colosin Tyran Zyhm Jelfin Zarkces. Most people just call you Alex.
As you contemplate your memory, a small change in your environment occurs: A small hatch in the ceiling opens up, and a corpse falls into the room. The hatch, you notice, emits a small cloud of sparks and gets stuck halfway through. No one seems to notice this. The corpse is that of a human, and it's in rather poor quality. Harvesting it, though, will still be helpful.

You stalk forwards, and consume the human. You can feel the power coursing through you, something you've not felt in a long time. Too long, really. Delicious as it was, it was badly damaged, and you only received two DNA points. You could spend those now on getting something from the being you've just consumed, but saving them for something better is also an option.
On an unrelated note, with this invigorating rush of strength, a quirk in how your species evolves has been brought to mind: Each corpse consumed can only be used up once. For example, if you got hands from one human corpse, you'd have to find another to get opposable thumbs.

Can we get the ability to speak from it? Or at the very least the ability to understand their language and maybe to read.
Where there's one human, there's more, the ability to at least understand them or communicating with such a highly social species is very useful.
