Eventually the library will run out of Terry Brooks, and on that day I will shout for joy, for I will stop having to read them in the hope that he will do something original.

Now reading: The Winds of Change - Asimov
You still have The Sword of Shannara.

School library is still closed, unfortunately. I do have one book that I got from book club, at least.

Payoff! Armageddon's Children is completely different.
You still have The Sword of Shannara.
It's the fourth book on the list, I think.

I repost, otherwise the list just gets buried by the other reposters.

Umberto Eco remains my hero.  Queen Loana is worth the time.

I think I'm going for Tale of the Three Kingdoms, Kant and the Platypus, and Wuthering Heights for my next three.  I'm sick of WH... kind of ready to have it over and done with.

I post here to watch and I wish I had more time for reading than me trying to write. >_>

It's been forever since my allowance allows books that aren't textbooks...
Blleeehh. So much literature. I really want to read them all.

That's a lot of Pratchett, Helgoland. I've been reading Raising Steam and I think I've reached life-time Pratchett saturation. He can do clever stuff on the sentential level, and there's a good deal of inventiveness in his oeuvre, but he has maybe three character archetypes and everyone ends up talking and acting like everyone else.

Raising Steam? It's supposed to be not so good. Not such a miracle, the guy has Alzheimer's, after all. The early stuff is best.

Spoiler: 2, 3/52 (click to show/hide)

Been meaning to read the first, and it's actually decent, not nearly the horror story that disgruntled high school students would make it out to be.

Unfortunately I only found a copy of the third edition of the latter, and Fitzpatrick sort of backed off from her original proposition, which is a shame. Controversy is delicious, after all.

Just read "Bridge of Birds, a novel of ancient China that never was". (Yes that's all part of the title).
It was an amazing book, the subject (as I have personally always found mythical China an excellent subject), the writing style, the vibrant characters and how crazy funny it was at quite a few places. Everything came together to make it an exceptional book.

Hmm... Now that I think of it I might as well start a reading list now, better late then never.

[spoiler4, 5/52]Take A Thief
Mercedes Lackey
2/13/14

The Majesty of the Law
Sandra Day O'Conner
2/13/14[/spoiler]

That's finished off everything I was partway through except Paradise Lost, and I'm still reading that too thoroughly to end any time soon.
