So I'm working on the Class development for a moment. Here's what I have so far:
Ashigaru Unit - Peasant Soldiers, composed of 12 Individuals functioning as a Single Player Unit. What I'm working on now is deciding what sort of special attribute(s) they would have, something Formation based probably?
Katana/Naginata/Yumi Samurai - 3 different classes specializing in their respective main weapons, to add variety instead of having one general Samurai class.
Sōhei Monk - I'd like to make them have a few similarities with the Samurai, but with a different weapon layout for variety, as well their own unique attribute(s).
Mounted Samurai - Would gain cavalry benefits at the expense of being vulnerable to spears and polearms.
Yabusame Samurai - I'd like to give them something special to differentiate them from the Yumi Samurai, besides just having horses.
Shinobi - Of course, Ninjas need to be an option. What's to be decided is whether they are to be an assassination class that focuses on killing specific enemies using Stealth and Discretion, or if they have more of a indirect style with their weapons supplemented by Smoke Bombs and Poison. Either way, I imagine they'd be either weak to fighting large-numbered enemy units or cavalry, both of which they were not accustomed to taking on in combat.
That leaves room for a couple more classes, if anyone has a suggestion for a cool contemporary class they'd like to be implemented. Unfortunately, the battle takes place a few hundred years before European arms and Gunpowder would influence the battlescape, which would be an easy way to create a number of new classes.
