Heya folks.

I'm having a small problem, for some reason i can't make upward stairs here.
This is the upper layer:
Down layer: I'm trying to build the upward stairs directly under the downward stairs in the upper level:

For some reason i can't place them, the tile just stays blank when i select it for upward stairs, why? Help is much appreciated.

If you are trying to designate them you will be shit outta luck, as designated stairs are carved into unmined rock or soil. Try building them as a built construction.

Building the stairs as construction worked. Never knew you couldn't build stairs on just floor. Oh well, makes sense. Thanks guys.

you can - the difference is between digging it out of existing rock or soil, or constructing it with previously mined, produced or cut materials. As mentioned, you just can't dig in empty space and leave some of that space in the shape of stairs.
