The warrior-priest leads the group up to the door, which is quickly revealed to be held shut by a chain. It rattles as the door gives slightly, before an eye appears in the gap, set deep in the face of a pale skinned elf.
‘Welcome to the Spring’s Watch. As you can see, we suffered a fair bit of dragon damage, so if you want quality rooms, you’ll be wanting the other inn up on the third tier. If you’re after our other services, then they’re still running. So what’s your business?’
A rattle punctuates the gap in speech, followed by a loud cheer. The elf’s eye vanishes momentarily as he yells inside ‘Shut up!’

"Quality is of no concern-we seek a roof and walls for shelter, that is all. Perhaps my new comrades may avail of your services, but otherwise we are merely looking for a place to sleep."

‘I can do the roof part at least.’ He grins, and a hand reaches up to where the chain is locked, releasing it. The door swings open, the host standing behind it, and we see a room filled with people hunched over tables - some more so than others, given that the room includes a number of trolls, and even a single ogre. The clatter of dice and glasses fills the area, which, despite the host’s jokes, possesses a full complement of walls. A roulette table clatters in one corner, besides a long busy bar.
‘There are a number of rooms out back.’ The elf gestures towards a door in the far wall. ‘Worker’s rooms, mind you, but I did say not to expect quality. No one’s using them at the moment, given that we’re officially shut, but if you can keep your tongues from wagging you can have a night for free. Can’t leave people out in this weather.’

"I'm a woman who can appreciate circumspection." With a smile, Kannii swept past him out of the rain. Water dripped from her cloak onto the cracked wooden floorboards.

"Thank you. I appreciate the offer. In exchange, I would be willing to see if I could reinforce the walls of the inn with runework."

If allowed, take charcoal and scribe the following runes on the walls:

Wesley walks in tilting his head in a friendly way to the Elf before heading to the bar and waiting for the Bartender to get some free time to ask what they have.

Sorrel follows Wesley idly.

"Do you suppose they have anything good to drink here?

I suppose a pint of spiced Rock Scorpion Ale* is unlikely."

*This is a uncommon Drowish-style brew, made of actual poison scorpions-it's a bit risky to drink. It keeps the user in a state of hyper-readiness and hot-bloodedness.

Wesley shrugs.
"I don't know, sound interesting though. I'm more of a rum drinker myself, although, that probably makes me sound a bit like a hypocrite as a lot of rum is made with slave labor due to the dangers and how it's impractical to hire someone to do runes for it. Results are good though."

((Why would it be risky? Pretty much any venom intended to be injected directly into the bloodstream breaks down in digestive enzymes long before it could be absorbed in any dangerous quantity.))

((Um.

The Drowish Rock Scorpion is actually a creature with no comparison to the 'real' world. It's 'venom' is highly corrosive, being used not as an injection, but a heated chemical projectile weapon by the overlarge insects-in a way similar to the bombardier beetle of our own world, though they use it to immobilize prey during attacks by blinding and burning. The ale's signature is this potent blend, combined with other ingredients-various glands in the scorpions body are also processed into potent chemical compounds, all magically treated to be as harmless as possible, but still maintain the near lethal spicy kick. The more 'kick', the more likely it is to kill or injure the imbiber.

Now, can you explain how drawing shapes on the walls of a near-collapsed inn is going to improve it's structural integrity? :P))

((Magic, of course.
And sorry for assuming that when you said "scorpion," you meant "scorpion," not "acid-firing death insect". And how would corrosive stuff ever be safe to drink? Or, for that matter (depending on just how caustic), able to be stored?))

((Magic, of course! The same magic that heals a fevered brow greatly reduces the potency of the acid on your body. But not too much, because that's no fun.

Also, this stuff is sort of like rocket fuel and napalm and bleach, but it's really more dangerous when combined. It'd have to be stored in separate pressurized containers, and added together, in a big mug of pure cold iron that can stand the corrosive forces-and it must be drunk quickly, before the fumes burn your eyebrows off.

Edit: Also, I'm sure Drowish Rock Scorpions also have completely normally lethally venom in their stingers, why limit them to one weapon. That stuff isn't safe to drink at all!))

((Yeah, it's very dangerous to humans to drink acidic substances:P

That just sounds impractical to me, really. Spitting cobras blind their enemies by spraying venom in their eyes. I question the origins of a drink that literally requires magic to be made drinkable. Iron reacts with acids, as far as I remember, as well.

aaarggghh debating i'll stop i'll stop))
