Well I did four portraits so far, had a bit of a dry patch the past four days. Also did the first female portrait in like, ever. Scully from X-files, it was way easier than I expected it to be, and quite fun too. Much more so than Brad Pitt, that handsome but hard to draw motherfucker.

Week 1 Update:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

1. No progress.
2. No progress. Waiting on him.
3. No progress. Waiting on funds to afford hosting, etc.
4. I have a product for the first business, and began contacting potential beta-clients, trying to nail down pricing and potential improvements. For those interested, the product is a website for a single property, aimed at real estate agents.
5. She can identify several letters, but next I need to write down all the words I know she knows. If I could draw, I'd draw pictures, but I can't. Perhaps I'll put together a slide-show or something!
6. Meditated once, I'd say it was unfruitful, but I can see the advantages of training my focus.
7. Bought and eCigarette! The desire for real cigs as waned significantly, and I'm now gonna start turning them down when offered.
8. No progress. Going out tomorrow for yet another round of applications and follow-ups.
9. Organized my room, and all the electronics currently in the house! Huzzah!
10.Read a book this month that I will count; though it's amount of help is limited in scope. "The Game: Penetrating the Secret Society of Pickup Artists" by Neil Strauss. I've read a book on the art of pick-up before, and this one was more of a narrative than instructional, but it helped to solidify and view the more instructional type. So I'll count it.
11.No progress.
12.I was doing well with this, but it's taken a slow turn, since depression started setting in the past few days. Probably due to not leaving the house.

I've developed a "poem" to help me remember the twelve. Meditation, motivation, real estate, and daughter. Website, website, inventory, data(pronounced "dat-ter"). Businesses, self-help, cigarettes, and moonlight!

Progress update!

1. Run one mafia game per quarter

Game one has opened.

3. Track down and eat ichigo daifuku

Arranged transportation.

9. Read through Shakespeare and go to a play

I have a copy of the collected works now.  It's only 1500 pages, so I could probably read through it pretty easily while I'm unemployed.

10. Learn to drive

Talked to my mom about this.  We agreed that I'd get back behind the wheel once the present lump of job hunt/housing hunt disaster is complete.

11. Finish all those outlining and design projects I keep promising myself I'm going to finish

I'm doing the necessary research right now for the one that has the biggest time pressure.  I plan to visit the university library tomorrow.

12. Stop being a nincompoop and actually figure out how the local bank works

Got an ATM card, took care of a bunch of checks, got a credit card with other people than I was with.

To do: Get my mother taken off of my savings account, open checking account, visit branch in Berkeley, close old checking and credit lines.  I should be able to get all of this done within a week or so.

2. Spend no more than $20/month on trading cards.
Debatable success thus far. If I don't count entry fees as being spent on this, which I don't on account of caring more about the opportunity to play the game in a particular context, I've nowhere near failed. Otherwise, I'm going to fail abysmally this weekend.

3. Assemble playable core rules for a roleplaying game.
   -Finish gameplay (combat, arguments, exploration).
   -3 core race templates.
   -2 example culture templates.
   -15 example background templates.
   -5 powers per discipline.
   -Basic equipment.

Core gameplay rules are ~65% done in rough draft terms, and I've decided I'm upgrading to a full four races (Humans, Dwarves, Elves, Orcs) since the core races are extremely simple and easy to generate, being mostly similar. Pretty much just need to polish the one special quality each gets.

4. Assemble adequate client design document, arrange for people with actual skills to create it.
Somebody already did this for me. I'm still calling it a win, even though it means I need to divert my efforts to making sure I can do everything I need to with this platform.

7. Move into a new apartment.
I've failed to sign a lease renewal, so this is halfway to being unavoidable. I could conceivably wind up homeless, though, so not marking complete yet.

8. Earn an A in a class my transcript indicates I have no business taking at all.
This class looks like it'll be trivial. I'm really disappointed, actually, but at least it'll serve as a good introduction to Python.

9. Become full time student again.
I've done all I can so far. I'm waiting on replies from advisors, and tax documents to become available so I can file those and then finish some financial aid applications that require them. I do, however, need to apply for more scholarships/grants/what have you.

10. Continue progress toward healthy weight. 10 pounds to lose, some muscle to gain.
I've lost 3 of the 10, but have hit a metaphorical wall. I need to manifest some discipline here.

Updoot:

white = no progress
red = started, little progress
yellow = started, some progress
green = done!

Atm I've been doing things not remotely connected to the goals I listed <_< I think I'm gonna replace one or two of them bc they're irrelephant. Not been sitting on my arse though.

My turn ! :D
(me ? late ? not at all...)

1. Finish the damn race game. It's here, you just have to refactorize, it's not that hard !  >:(
2. Put some work in the Agora UI (yeap, I remember you guys, just feeling like I already work 24/7, and feeling guilty about this feeling...)
3. Find a better job. You know, a job where you want to go.
4. Talk to people. 3 months in the same train with the same people, and still not a word. seriously ... :(
5. Hang out with your friends. They want to, and you want to, so use your damn phone.
6. You were all yellow in the ASD self-testing thing. maybe you should go and see a doctor ? do something ?
7. Do some work on this Squad no-random Puzzle-Roguelike.
8. Learn to cook. you can do muffins and cheese-cake, now, how about something healthy ?
9. Do some sport. And no, taking the stairs to go to the 5th floor job isn't "sport".
10. Birthdays. don't forget them. Nearly missed Mom's already.
11. Books. read some. Hyperbol and a half is a start, let's not make it a stop.
12. Keep this list active. Keep your promises. Stay motivated. Stay alive ?

Dude, I just referred a guy to you IRL to look at Agora!  He said it's pretty much something he's been waiting for his entire life.

Just wanted to say... you're doing some really good work.  Keep going, cool dude.

Feb 15th Updoot:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

1. Printed out the forms... Now I need to mail them I guess
2. Still waiting.
3. Bought the domain!
4. First business is kinda on hole right now.
5. Lots of good movies/books/tablet games found, and I sit down with her a lot with fridge letter magnet things. Usually spelling dirty words until she starts paying attention. Makes it fun for me.
6. ooooooops.
7. Haven't had a real cigarette in like a week or more! Wooo!
8. Guess I didn't need a moonlighting job; I'm doing some telecommuting work for one of my old bosses fixing websites, and I'm about to get a full time job as a cable installer. Should make things significantly more difficult, but I bet I can still do it.
9. Haven't been able to afford to bring anything else up, so whatever's here is still packed away!
10.Kinda forgot about this one. Started reading a Tony Robbins book on my old phone, but that's-a-gone... Gotta find it again, don't remember the title :/
11.Haven't done this! But I think I'm getting a new computer soon, so that will probably happen then.
12.Motivation seems to be doing pretty well, whenever the little one is napping, I usually am coding shtuff. It helps having fun projects too, like plugins for mah Starbound server. Outgoingness has suffered. Enthusiam remains lackluster.

1. Run one mafia game per quarter - It's been in imperishable night, but I expect to get it back up tomorrow.  There's literally nothing else I need to do then, in terms of daily tasks.
2. Read Les Miserables.
3. Track down and eat ichigo daifuku - I went to the place a little bit too early!  I got delicious, hand-made, non-import blueberry daifuku and sakura mochi for cheap.  When the strawberries are in season, I'll go back for sure.
4. Write "Knots of Hay" [30-part web serial thing]
5. Translation project [no more details since I plan to publish]
6. Polish and attempt to publish one short story
7. Sew or knit something - If all goes well and I have the time, I'll do this next week.
8. Read through Dickens and attend the local Christmas Faire, possibly in costume
9. Read through Shakespeare and go to a play
10. Learn to drive - I'm actually doing daily practice now!
11. Finish all those outlining and design projects I keep promising myself I'm going to finish - I've been working on the cleanup for one of them pretty hard for the past couple of weeks, and I think I finally made a major breakthrough on the last piece of it that had been in question.  I'm also reading buttloads of books for background information for the next big document.
12. Stop being a nincompoop and actually figure out how the local bank works - I'm trying to switch my credit card company to someone else, but other than that--and closing the old accounts--I'm done.
BONUS: Start seeing a counselor

Whoo-hoo!  March is looking great!

March is looking great!
Fuck yeah, it is.

3. Assemble playable core rules for a roleplaying game.
   -Finish gameplay (combat, arguments, exploration).
   -3 core race templates.
   -2 example culture templates.
   -15 example background templates.
   -5 powers per discipline.
   -Basic equipment.
I've cleaned up a lot and got the gameplay playable, provided I provide the content to plug into the system. Wheeee!

8. Earn an A in a class my transcript indicates I have no business taking at all.
I'm considering this a lock at this point, and have focused my programming-learning efforts on an independent project I never stop posting about in the Happy Thread whenever I make the slightest advancement.

9. Become full time student again.
I've arranged for all the letters of recommendation I need, and think I can skip undergraduate work and get right into graduate studies. Still needs to happen before I can cross it off proper, though.

10. Continue progress toward healthy weight. 10 pounds to lose, some muscle to gain.
Operation Curry for Every Meal was a terrible plan, and I've abandoned it. It was too healthy, in that I kept feeling compelled to eat other, more filling things. Pasta is working much better, but I gained too much weight.

12. Make a drinkable wine.
Strawberry was good. I need to bottle it, and hope that spending a month or two sitting on dead yeast hasn't wrecked the flavor, but last time I checked it was doin' fine. Maybe tomorrow, just to cross one off my list.

1. Play Skyrim once, and only once. Take notes on good and bad design decisions.
2. Spend no more than $20/month on trading cards.
3. Assemble playable core rules for a roleplaying game.
   -Finish gameplay (combat, arguments, exploration).
   -3 core race templates.
   -2 example culture templates.
   -15 example background templates.
   -5 powers per discipline.
   -Basic equipment.
4. Assemble adequate client design document, arrange for people with actual skills to create it.
5. Assemble a website on which to host rules, game client, and world- and rules-building Wiki.
6. Actually make that Wiki.
7. Move into a new apartment.
8. Earn an A in a class my transcript indicates I have no business taking at all.
9. Become full time student again.
10. Continue progress toward healthy weight. 10 pounds to lose, some muscle to gain.
11. Learn basics of one new language. Russian or Mandarin, maybe? Dependent on what's available online for free, but finish a course at any rate.
12. Make a drinkable wine.

Struck-Through - Accomplished
Green - Approximately Complete (applicable work so far done)
Orange - In-Progress
Red - Setbacks, Must Redouble Efforts
Bold - Irrevocable Failure

Well, that wasn't the best track record. I shouldn't have made so many dependent on earlier goals. The two Irrevocable Failures are ones I decided it wasn't in my best interests to actually do - I'm working on the client myself now, and I realized that while independent culture and race rules is a cool idea, it's not good for the system I'm working on (races are only even being kept to support the option of playing weird creatures). The $20 a month worked out on average, but there were some individual months I went well over, so I'm not giving myself that completely. And I just never had time for the language - I'm going to try Russian if I can this year, but I'll not make the same kind of promise.

Gonna think on whether making a new set for 2015 is wise.

EDIT: I'm not 100% sure on the Skyrim one. I only remember one playthrough this year, but it's possible I'm remembering one as being older than it was.

Well, things didn't go that badly. O_o Can we do this again for next years? The list goals are nice.
