Possibly KOTOR? Definitely not the second game but I remember the first one being over with pretty quickly as far as RPGs go.

It didn't overload you no. Excruciatingly long tutorial + 5 plot planets + spoiler bits. I'd like to say that I maybe possibly did my first playthrough in 40-50 hours? Subsequent runs were close to or around 20h.

Icewind Dale was a bit shorter than Baldur's Gates were, from what I remember. Bit less RPG, bit more hack 'n slash.

Jade Empire was quite reasonable.

Fallout 1 was fairly short, but I had big issues getting comfortable with it. Could just be me but it didn't feel like it had aged as well as these other games. But I do think it's oldest too. Had fun with it once I 'got' it though.

Yeah +1 to the icewind dales. pretty fun dungeon crawlers.

And then, they will be weaponized. Like everything in this game, from kittens to babies, everything is a potential device of murder.
So if baseless speculation is all we have, we might as well treat it like fact.

Looking for online co-op games similar to L4D.
No fuss to get into a game.
Individual rounds arn't +30 minutes.
Usually has games going on for whenever I feel like dropping in.

I've already got Helldivers.  Payday2 is bad cause I can't connect to half the games.

EDIT:  Also, doesn't have excess amounts of baddies which takes a huge amount of your ammo pool to kill.  2 or 3 tanks are fine... but not all the time.

Warframe has many similarities. 4-man teams. Primarily PvE. Quick matches. Modes such as defend the point, assassinate the target, rescue the hostage, escort the payload, and so-forth. It's free to play with reasonable pay-for-convenience, but not pay-to-win.

I got an idea from something I read in the Wayfar thread, and another strategy I employed in the original Star Ruler. Is there a game about space... Intrigue? Like Space M&B. A game where I could go off and hide a secret spaceship factory and then launch a surprise invasion against a neighboring polity? Something like that... Not sure exactly.

Intrigue you say? Emperor of the Fading Suns offers a fractured Byzantine style empire in space complete with inter-house planetary warfare, hidden heretical weapons factories and a Church with a powerful armed force ready to invade planets in which it discovers said heretical factories.

It's basically like playing a game of Civ on multiple smaller planetary maps with a grand interstellar map to connect them all. It oozes charm and tactical options but fails at offering a decent AI for replayable challenges. There quite a few mods out there that help mitigate that.

Unfortunately it is not on GOG and can only be found on abandonware sites.

There's Stars!, an old 4x PBEM game (it's hard to get though) and Neptune's Pride, which is basically Diplomacy in space.

I suddenly have a new supply of free time I want to spend on playing some games. Since it's October/Halloween Season, I'm looking towards some more horror-based, or Halloween-ish games or games that follow that theme/options. Ideas?

Some ideas:
-Dead Space Series (Necromorphs)
-Left 4 Dead (Zombie hordes)
-Zombie Master (More zombies, online multiplayer, but with players being directors too)
-Hidden: Source (Invisible vs. squad Multiplayer fun)
-Party Hard (You play as a slasher movie character, taking out innocent partiers)
-Axiom Verge (Has the right atmosphere)
-Castlevania Series (Of course)
-Viscera Cleanup Detail (Blood. Blood everywhere.)
-Quake 1 (What better atmosphere than nuking monsters in the Elder Dimension?)

As for art ideas and such for crafty games and the like, I'll provide an idea or few for anyone to take on if they feel up to it:
-Jack-o-Lantern House (DONE: Minecraft)
-Haunted Castles/towns
-Nether Hellscaping

These two instantly came to mind:
Alien Isolation (sci-fi horror)
Dead by Daylight (multiplayer horror game, 1 slasher vs. 4 campers)

This is kind of odd, but...

What is a strategy or 4X game where it's really, really satisfying to defeat your opponents? Where you don't just defeat them, you grind them into the dust. Blow up their great works, flatten their skyscrapers, sell their people as slaves, level their center of government and build a Wal-Mart on the rubble. Completely wiped off the face of the map.

I'm thinking about getting Rimworld on Steam, although there's no discount. Without the discount, Rimworld worth 500RUB/8USD? Shall I buy now, wait for the discount or ignore completely? I have not very big expectations from the game.
