La Mulana is all about the bats.
As long as those things:
a) Do not appear on silver lines spread out in a web-like pattern.
b) Spew webs like...something that naturally doesn't 'spew' webs.
c) Do not have eight legs and somehow drop down on you all 'I'm gonna get ya!' like with a welcoming figure.
Then I'd gladly hug them--only if they don't deal the 'Damage on contact' sort of thing.

..Bleh, this is me describing those spiders in most games. I'm even shuddering at this imagery. >_<

...A Narrative game wherein the protagonist is a spider and it deals with arachnophobia and its causes..that'd be nice to see. :P

Papers, Please, please.

More non-sexualized characters. I guess it's the overabundance of buxom characters in League of Legends that influences this answer the most.

To the best of my knowledge, and a quick google-search later, La Mulana has no spiders :]
Act... actually. Well, not exactly spiders, per se, but spider chimera... things. In the very first part of the dungeon whatsit, heading off toward the temple of the sun or the giant joint. Lion heads and front body, spider end bodies. It's not exactly detailed, and they don't act like spiders or anything, and I guess it could be ants or something? I'unno. But I've been thinking of 'em as spider lions. But yeah, no webs, no jumping, I think only six limbs. Tiru, you should be fine.

I will say, though, a narrative game where the protagonist is a spider with arachnophobia would be... interesting? How do you function when you're fundamentally terrified of yourself? Reflective surface avoidance as a mechanic?

E: Though between this and the Terraria thread, I'm starting to wonder if every time Tiru asks "Is there spiders?" I'm going to be there going, "Sorry, Tiru. Yes." It's not intentional ;_;

They have ant bodies and all they do is slowly walk back and forth on a platform.  I can't imagine them being scary to anyone.

Darned Terraria spiders. I was enjoying that game, up until I walked into a Crimson cave and a spider leaped out at me.

Spiders don't bug me in some games, though. It's mainly how they act that bugs me.

...*point* ^
Or that the whole system is actually wrong, which would either result in a revelation to the player post-game (Nier comes to mind..oh gods. I'm not spoiling anything though :P) or that there'd be free-choices if the player sees it coming and tries to intervene, which would have a different consequence on the world at large, from the player-perspective, usually.
Yeah, those're excellent, but tend a little more toward sympathetic than what I meant to convey. I'm thinking characters more like Vayne, if you've played FF12. He's clearly "evil", a psychopath whose pride is as important a motivation as the noble goal he claims to seek. But given his background, his talents, and the arguable oppression he was fighting against, I don't see how he could ever have been anything else. He's not a monster just because the story needed an antagonist, he's a monster because it's the only way his character arc could've gone.

Maybe what I'm talking about is tragic villains - ones who're made villains because of the very characteristics that could have made them heroes in another context. They're understandable, I suppose, in that they're characters you could imagine people legitimately aspiring to be, based on the character's motivations, until you realize what they've actually done.

But, anyway, I've already had my say about what I want to see so I should stop with the fanboying over that game >___________>

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

Spider-mixes are OK with me. Anthropomorphic spiders are OK. Spider-robots are OK.

Hairy spiders which are programmed to WEB AT YER FACE...Spiders that drop down via web like a horror thriller...No :I

x3
Well to be honest, those spiders in Terraria didn't creep me out that much given that the forelegs are elongated.
What I really don't like are spiders with the usual 'short forelegs, mid/long..midlegs, and short hindlegs' with varying sizes of spinnerets and stuffs.
Colorful spiders are scarier for me..maybe because I know that colors == DANGER I'M DANGEROUS D:< in the animal kingdom and all. Usually red and hues which are "danger" colors.

And I know its not intentional. I somehow like that kind of teasing (though I will be :I)

...Yes. THOSE kinds. >___<
HATE~

Though..a nice character concept would be if you know the other character has some sort of 'inspire fear' and then the screen shifts to what exactly the character is seeing. It's both a 'warning-ahead' to those players who really have that phobia, and for immersification. :P

They might be ant-lions... From what I remember of Shin Megami Tensei, there's a demon that's a lion with an ant thorax, so I -think- it's a mythical beast?

I'd like to sign up for
1. La Mulana
2. Papers, Please
3. Trine
4. Gone Home

If that is not too many. As for characters I'd like to see... Just more characters with emotional depth beyond stereotypes or used-for-gags. More complexity in general.

Hmm. I think I'll hop in here for Gunpoint...
And... heck, I'll just go with the slight little theme I've got going here between that request and my avatar, and say that I'd love to see more noir-styled protagonists. Along with a fun little mystery plot. Oh, also, the protagonist should be snarky. That's always fun! Except for when it's badly written. In which case, it'd be annoying. :I

Signing up for Gunpoint.

As for characters, I would like to see some characters with some thought put into them. Not just a big bag of Tropes made to further the plot, or the standard boring action hero dude. Don't really care about the specifics, as long as they're written well.
