Pretty much what he said. I had a bunch of fun doing a nonlethal MGS3 and Gunpoint run, and I'd like to see more characters (and games in general) that give minimal-casualties options.

Sign me up for FTL, please.

I'd like to see a character who doesn't let himself get swept away by the plot, who considers more options than the first that comes to mind, someone who puts lots of thought into his actions and has a knack for creating plot twists that significantly alter the story (Old Man Henderson style) without just being lucky or sufficiently badass.

FTL

1.Actually agreeable villain. The world isn't black and white, it's sad that many videogame are, with cardboard characters and card carrying villains. ((And next-gen graphics))

1.Long Live the Queen
2.Papers Please
3.FTL

I am interested not  in an exact type of character what I want is more, way more complex relationships between characters. Proper families, friends, enemies that are as deep as the character they linked to. I want Links between characters that are fun to explore, links that make game change in a way so when you influence one character, you influence at least several more.

Wow, another giveaway! Please sign me up for Papo & Yo.

I would like to see more non-stereotypical female characters in games, or games with mostly female characters. A female character shouldn't be in there just to be "a girl." A literature professor once said to me, "In literature, a woman is always a Woman. A man is just a person." He was warning all of the students in the class to not make that mistake. It has stuck with me ever since (easily, since I'm a female myself). A female character can be beautiful without being a sex symbol or object. She can be average-looking or even ugly without that being her only character trait. She can be intelligent without being vindictive or treacherous. She can be unintelligent without being a dumb blonde. She can succumb to certain stereotypes without becoming nothing more than a stereotype herself.

It's rare that I find a well-written female character, in games or film or literature, but usually they are written by women. Whenever I see men trying to break the stereotypes of what a female character should be, they just write a male character and slap a female name and image on him. Realistic, relatable, non-stereotypical female characters are not the same as men, but of course, while women are exposed to examples of complex male characters their entire lives and learn to empathize with and understand them, men are mostly only exposed to images of women which are not realistic, and never have the chance to really understand what it means to be female.

I'd like to see that change.

Your move, Victory Garden Games. ; ) (And if you ever need help writing female characters, from a female writer, you're welcome to get in touch with me.)

Many thanks for the giveaway!

I'd like to see more questionable protagonists. Not anti-heroes, not moral choice systems, just a game where the protagonist isn't the shining paragon of all that is good and the villain's personality isn't composed of nothing but Hitler's farts and Stalin's moustache follicles.

Signing up to try and win FTL or Papers Please...

As for characters... I would love to see more main characters who make thier decisions based on current situations on the fly/as they go, rather than there always being some big overarching plan they are always striving towards regardless of whatever goes down. This is even more relevant for bad guys, as they always seem so "mechanical" to me.

That, or aliens that are truly alien. In SciFi novels, the aliens are often brilliant. Granted, I appreciate the diffciulty of reperesenting a sentent magnetic field structure in the visual medium, but I am so sick of "people in suits" style aliens.

Team Rocket are plenty good at making decisions on the fly.

I would desire to sign up for La Mulana and Eversion.
The type of character i want to see more is the type of villain that does what he's doing because of the pain others have inflicted on him, that can yet be redeemed through acts of genuine kindness.
Thank you all for the giveaway

I'd like to join for FEZ.

As for a type of character, I guess it'd be a protagonist who isn't meant to save the world / do great things. Because in most games, you're a one man army who can deal with anything and everything. It annoys me a little.

Papers Please, please. =P

One of the characters I'd like to see more of is one that we're both familiar with (Vector), considering our lengthy conversations over in the anime thread. I'd like to see more characters like Asuka from Neon Genesis Evangelion. That doesn't mean I want to see tsunderes, although she is sometimes credited with being the character that started the craze. Tsunderes are an overused character archetype that take advantage of a faux sense of relationship improvement, which ends up causing people to like them more. It's a psychological thing, and it's fake. Asuka is the type of character that has character traits and behaviors that people legitimately dislike. However, unlike most other characters who might have that, she isn't designed to be the butt monkey, or a villain, or someone-you-love-to-hate. She's designed to be human, and in doing so, she's outside of most character archetypes. She's a character that has issues, and any positive change in how she considers you has to be earned, and if you don't try to look past those issue to try and understand the person underneath, you'll just think she's a horrible person and she won't give a damn about you in return. That's missing from a lot of characters that are similar to her. Too many characters have very easy paths to character development, a sudden revelation where everything clicks together and everyone sings Happy Happy Joy Joy.

So I guess what I'm saying is I'd like to see more characters that aren't instantly likeable but aren't designed to be someone the audience is meant to dislike, and require a multifaceted approach to character development/relationship development. Someone who you can tell isn't just the sum of their appearance or behavior, but if you want a glimpse beneath the surface you need to work for it. I don't see many characters like that, and I'd like to see more.

Ooh! Fez please! I never played it.

I actually really enjoy naivete in characters. It reminds me of a simpler time, and it also helps with exposition if the character you're identifying with has no idea what's going on.

Thank you for the awesome giveaway! :)
I would love to get Long Live the Queen.

Characters I would like to see more: a character like Morte the floating skull from Planescape: Torment. C'mon he is a skull and he floats! And his comments are hilarious and he fights with his teeth! :D
