Sounds great! I'm not too keen on narrative in games, but I've always got some love to give to B12 projects! :)

I'd definitely suggest going for some engine that's already good to go, like Unity or GameMaker. Developing an engine that's flexible takes a lot of time and effort, and reinventing the wheel when it's readily available for free is usually not worth it :)

Oh my god... thank you guys so much.  We'll let you know soon.  We've got to get the webpage up (and I've got a computer to finish assembling, LOL), but as soon as that's done, we're really looking forward to talking games with all y'all.

We do intend to build our own engine for some projects, though of course if there's something that can run our proposed games to the desired vision, we'll be using that.  So, for example, any visual novels we make are probably going to be coded in renpy, but our more innovative projects will probably require a more innovative engine :]


Out of curiosity, does this have anything to with that math sim dating game thingy you were talking about a while back?

Yes and no.  That math dating game was what started Soli and I talking about game design, but we don't intend to make publishing VNs our main schtick.  Instead, I'll be working on Fundamental Theorem and another project or two on the side, as we focus on developing games that are a bit more, well, gamey.  You may not see Fundamental Theorem for a while, but it will be here eventually.


Heyyy, good on you! Always good to see more B12 projects. Now be sure to keep it moving and don't let it fall apart! :P

I'll say this: I'm intrigued. Hopefully you'll keep us up to date.

Don't worry on that!  This has been months in the making, and we have a fairly robust plan moving forward.  The dev blog is expected to be updated at least once a week by both of us, and we will keep you posted as to what's going on--even if it's only technical practice or somesuch.


Thank you for this outpouring of support, everyone... this is really incredible, and I'm grateful to you all for your good will and generosity.  We'll do our best to be sure that it's merited, and look forward to sharing more with you as it develops.

Your ideas intrigue me, and I wish to learn more. Two awesome creators creating things is a good recipe.

Solifuge seems to already know how to do everything artwise that I do, however I'd still like to offer some help if you want it. If your portraits are reasonably low-res sprites (that is to say, low-res enough that pixel-level art is relevant), I might be able to lend a hand. Also, maps. Maps I can probably chip in on.
