Unbelievable symbol

I was checking the engarving on my dining hall and found that the symbol of my civilization was picks.

Unbelievable! An artwork image that makes sense in Dwarf Fortress!!

My civ's symbol is dwarves. Lest you think they're being too literal, the symbol is actually a finely-designed image of dwarves. I've got a bunch of engravings which are "exceptional renditions" of finely-designed images of dwarves. Very René Magritte.

I heard you like images of dwarves, so we put images of dwarves in your images of dwarves, so you can see depictions of dwarves being depicted in images of dwarves!

My most recent fort's symbol was two mechanisms. Why two? I don't know. The civ's was round cabochons (the gems), but it was also called "the Angelic Machine", so you could probably force thematic consistency on it somehow.

Mine was a copper thong that menaced with spikes of leather.

The fortress was called 'ThrustyDikes, the plains of sweating'. You cannot make this shit up.

What I really want to see is the rare mutually recursive engraving: Urist engraves an engraving of Ral engraving an engraving of Urist engraving an engraving of Ral engraving...
