I actually sort of like it, because it actually feels like night. I should clarify--from what I've seen the level of moonlight actually changes, so some nights are much brighter than others. In either case, it's nice that flashlights actually matter and assholes can't just run around PKing at night with immunity because they've turned their gamma up.

Also on the plus side is that nighttime makes zombie detection go way down; I've spotted them in my flashlight, memorized their location, and snuck up behind for a blind swing with my axe more times than I can count, without ever alerting them.

The trick to being a gamma warrior is to have HDR set to low (the highest setting), clouds set to off, and gamma and brightness as high as they will go. If HDR is on very low it will still be really hard to see. I am not ashamed to admit I have abused my gamma settings occasionally, especially when I am getting shot at when it's night and it is virtually impossible to see me without someone having their gamma set high... so I just level the playing field.

Anyway, I am currently at the apartments northeast of Balota, pretty much set gear wise and have a mosin with a long range scope and a bipod. Does anyone need anything?

If you happen across a mag-pull grip or stock for the M4, or an ACOG in better than "worn" condition, I'd trade for that. Same deal for a compass. Of course, that assumes that I manage to get the server list to load and get into a server that you are also in, and that we coordinate well enough to meet up.

edit: The game is currently unplayable due to my tremendous ping. tracert to google seems to suggest it is an ISP issue. I would normally just tough through it, but my ping is literally showing as 1000-2000 for each server.

edit2: The second I post that edit, my ping goes back to normal. Stupid AT&T.

edit3: I currently have 3 60 round taped stanags that are full, as well as another 180 bullets in my ammo box. I don't have an m4 so if anyone wants them just let me know. I also have the .45 pistol and 4 full mags as well as 80 extra bullets if anyone wants that as well. Also if anyone has a UK assault vest that matches with the TTsKO pants and shirt and is pristine, I would trade it for my current black UK assault vest.

I just learned that apparently items DO indeed have armor ratings, and as such I won't be running around in black cargo pants with an orange raincoat and pink hat all day long.

edit4: I just spawned in ontop of a residential buildings sloped roof, fell off, and died instantly. Such is life.

The game was good and did permit me to make a 1 hour trek from Solnichniy to Pustoshka, thus letting me loot my body and regain all of my stuff. I normally wouldn't have gone back to it, but I was going to be heading to NWAF anyway so...

Yes and no. With enough config modifying I was able to run it at 20fps on a old 2003 dell laptop. It didn't look good but...

Do remember to, as with ArmA, set the 3D resolution to the same as your monitor, if you don't want the unplayable beer-goggle effect.

Asea check Electro. It has everything, Last time I was playing got had both hand guns and a M4 with a shit-ton of ammo.

I've found one once myself (in one of the military buildings with the jail cell, I think) and once on a guy I killed. They seem to be extremely rare for some reason.
