Well, lucky you.
Mainly they spawn in the military tents at NWAF/Balota or in firestations.

They do seem to be pretty rare, though. In my current life I've only found two .45 mags, but I've found five 40rd, seven 30rd, and probably around fifteen or so 20rd/10rd 5.56mm mags. I've got an ammo box full of stacks of loose 5.56 too, but only around 35-40 loose .45 rounds.

Maybe I just get lucky. I generally play on the same server all the time, and at night it has very few players. Coupled with the new spawn locations, I once found 2x 20 round 3x 30 round 1x 40 round 2x 60 round stanags, 2 revolvers and 30 rounds of .357, 1 FNX45 along with 6 mags and 80 bullets, and a pristine bipod and long range scope for my mosin all in one pass of Balota. The one thing I have NOT found an excess of is mosins... I've only ever found 1. Hell when I go to tents I seem to find red dot sights and acogs all day long, with the occasional FNX45 red dot sight... long range scopes seem much more rare than FNX45 red dot sights, at least to me.

edit: Also my gametag has changed to Reglar after a ton of people threatened to report me for no reason after I destroyed them on versus L4D2.

Yep. I sent you an invite.

I once found two mosins in one min... Stary is fun, with the cars and all.

How the hell are you supposed to use melee weapons? The shovel never hits and even if it does it's very hard to tell when.

Aim with the cursor, swing when they're close enough, hope you don't lag. The easiest is to stand still, wait until the zed is 1-2 meters away, then run towards it, smack, and back off for another go. Oh, and find a fireaxe, they're a one-hit kill. Melee weapons have always been wonky in DayZ because they aren't really proper melee weapons, but rather a bizarre sort of gun that has no ammo and a very short maximum range. Note how hitting a bit of terrain acts like a bullet. That said, the standalone ones are still far better, because they hit semi-reliably and don't disappear on you.

So I was playing with some friends earlier when we noticed a nest of snipers in the firehouse north of electro, now I happened to also have a long range mosin with bipod; Long fight later they are dead, so is one of my buddies.  We collect his equipment and set off to meet him, when we get there he suddenly has an impossible time keeping any of his clothes on that's when I noticed the following.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Apparently it's possible to steal someones skin and also control over what items they wear 0.0

Also if anyone wants to play here's my steam link http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198008095944/  tend to play with a small group over mumble, anyones welcome

I bought it today, aside from about 10 minutes of playing it on ARMA I have no experience of the game but I'd be happy to take you up on that.

Hey guys, I've been hanging a lot with the Grishno town group. You guys should come check it out. It's a loose group of players that all try to settle Grishno near the NWAF. You should come check it out. Join the steam group, it's called The Peoples' Republic of Grishino.
