Mental journal of Gene, Granite 127When Maskwolf stepped down, we were at a loss for how to choose the next leader. We eventually decided to all draw straws; I managed to get the short straw through sheer "luck." Whether this will turn out well for the fort or not is unknown. I'll do my best, though, and the rest are all following me loyally. Now that I'm in charge, I'll take a closer look around the place.
The top floor of the fort, with most of our stockpiles and our wood furnaces/kiln.
Other workshops and forges; Jerbot's home away from home.
Eventual workshops, pretty quick work.
The only noteworthy vein of ore we've found so far.
...and that's basically the fort so far. Our food stocks are good, and no one seems to be wounded... I have a great feeling about this!
Now that I'm in charge, I think it's only fair that I get a nice new room. After all, without me, everyone would be sleeping in the dirt, exposed to the elements!
Slightly later Granite, 127There seems to have been a slight mishap while mining out my chambers.
Hopefully it doesn't ruin the room!
The breach has almost been fixed! This is stressful, though. I need a break...
Well, it turns out that my solution isn't a solution at all. The breach continues to flood the fort, and all I've accomplished is trapping several dwarves in the forge room. That said, I'm not going to do anything about it yet. I have my break hours, and I'm entitled to enjoying them!
Slate, 127Alright, I'm off my break now. What's the worst that could have happened to the lower levels?
Ah. Well, that's great. And lower than that?
Swell.
It seems that there are 5 dwarves trapped down in the flooded portion, including Ulengkosak, ShadowHammer, and several other members of the military. As a result of the flood, we have lost access to our tetrahedrite vein, our anvil, our jewels, and all of our beds. Jerbot will be heartbroken, I'm sure. I have more important things to attend to, however...
