would a mod be required for a well of booze ?
« on: December 16, 2013, 09:15:53 pm »

I posted a little bit ago in the dwarf  mode discussion and thought I would ask the all knowing modders who are familiar with the game mechanics if a mod would be "required" to make a well full of booze, or if it would be at all theoretically possible in an unmodded game.

I'm not entirely sure it's possible.

Depends what you mean.

A well that outputs pure booze is not at all possible, since liquids are hardcoded, but a well that outputs booze-laced water is possible with no mods.

so booze can already be a contaminate? Any and all booze? Hmmm.
I guess that answers my question though. Would have to be a mod for a pure booze well but a booze contaminated well is possible. Okay.

I never saw booze as contaminant because right now it's DRINK which is treated like item, can be carried in hand and even thrown.

A normal well can never have booze as a liquid, but you can make a custom workshop called boozewell, which requires the same things to build.. but what would you do with it?

You could probably use DFHack to replace the water inside a well bucket into booze, but I'm not sure if dwarves would be able to drink it (since the "drink from well" job probably only looks for LIQUID_MISC items rather than DRINK items).

P.S. If you don't get this note, let me know and I'll write you another.
It's amazing how dwarves can make a stack of bones completely waterproof and magmaproof.
It's amazing how they can make an entire floodgate out of the bones of 2 cats.

Hmm.wouldn't it be nice to do it with liquids and place a Booze source instead of a river source. LOL oh well. Maybe I'll hit the mega millions later.

It would be nice, but can't.
