What ships are flying at us, I mean since we are a battleship, why run? Why not just pivot and shoot them?

I mean since we are a battleship
I think we are a cruiser. Still cruiser against two mining ships and squad of security drones is a favorite

" We warned you, by attacking us, you attack the House Saeta. Now surrender or die" is a course of diplomacy we can choose.

Problem here is that it looks like we know nothing about this federation and I am unsure that we need to get them as a long term enemy. Or that it is good idea to initiate war between Saeta and the Federation.

Sorry, that was a typo. It was supposed to say the Rim League, not the federation. It's an equivalent of the United nations, or the League of Nations. Slightly more info in the OOC.

I suggest us to turn our face to them and send them that messages:

First "You are facing a cruiser "Redemption" that armed with missile launchers, heavy guns and fighters, your attack on us is a suicide. We don't want bloodshed. Decelerate and match speed with us or be destroyed"

Then "We are ready to accept your representative on board to bring him to Saeta government official to discuss ownership of the mining drones and  legality of your colonization efforts because we have no official status to conduct diplomacy of that kind. Alternatively we may escort jump capable vessel to Vanguard system"

Should they keep chasing us - shot one shrapnel salvo into their  direction( aiming for the drones) and transmit
"That's the last warning. Halt the pursuit or we will unleash all our might"

If that is ignored and\or they open fire: Fire lasers at one of the miners and launch the gunship to cycle around us

Tremor will be in the gunship, ready to assist the crew and help with any emergent repairs

I suggest some NPC characters to make crew more alive and make 10ebbor10's life easier.
I urge others to do the same. Space operas are about crews, not about ships. Having 10-15 no nameless crewmembers will be nice for the story.

Armand:
Task: Pilot\Trader
Bio: Former freelance merchant, lost job after his freighter was damaged beyond repair by pirates, joined team of salvagers as a pilot of their shuttle, became Redemption's pilot because he is the most experienced in operating large vessels

Tasha:
Task: Nurse\Diplomat
Bio: Medical graduate, nice girl that found no suitable job. Being a friendly and charismatic person with nice voice she was chosen to operate the radio

Armand, evidently getting tired of this chase, deactivates the primary engine, turns the ship around, powers the lasers. He grabs communications, and transmits a final warning to the mining ships. One of them, visibly spooked by the increasing energy signature, immediately turns and begins to reduce velocity. The other ship waits for a moment, then reduces velocity and hails. They acknowledge that they will soon provide a representative, with his own jump capable ship. Nevertheless, they're slowly gaining on you. Your sensor note a small contact departing from the surface of the asteroid. It's about the size of a small personnel transport, and heading in your direction.

My paranoid side says that this may be a trap, with personal transport carrying something nasty like a kick ass bomb...

But paranoia aside (not that we shouldn't scan the vessel), following the peaceful route is our best bet. We may prevent a rather nasty conflict here and strengthen the house we work for

Do we have some sort of shuttle that could fly out and meet the little vessel?

The gunship, the combat drone?

Personally, I suggest the combat drone. Just make shure it wont shoot.

It's hard to make an unarmed drone to shot, but don't you think that sending something on interception course with their personal carrier looks like -  we want to shoot down your VIP?

Still think it will be a weird and suspicious action to take

Anyway I say: be friendly, but ready for surprises. Should none happen fast-forward to the Vanguard system

Then hail them our intent. I can assure you, if we wanted to blast their little shuttle, we could.

Yep. It still needs an escort of some sort, just so that we can make positive its not some sort of proxy-bomb.

I don't know what an escort would help with if it were a proxy bomb...
