Chapter 1: Guardian's Fall

While the majority of the Seata administration is to be found on it's namesake planet,  most of the naval and mercenary related administration is to be found in orbit, located on one of the 3 massive orbital defense Stations that surround the planet. The stations are not a pretty sight, though many attempts have been made to refit them in recent years, their origins are still clearly visible. Heaps of refugee ships welded together, massive plague colonies confined to orbit, their people forbidden from making any attempt to tread the surface below. Living conditions on the stations have certainly improved after the Seata military requisitioned all of them and repurposed them for planetary defense, but conditions are still far from optimal. Nevertheless, the 3 Guardian stations provide a powerfull base of operations for the Seata government.

The Redemption slowly makes it's way to one of these massive stations. Despite the fact that payment and all other formalities can easily be settled via the network, the Seata administration still prefers to do some things in person. In order to provide any unpleasant surprises, Tasha hails the station, informing them of your escortee. While the Seata official on the other side of the line appears to be surprised, they do not make a fuss about the proceedings. You're given permission to dock at the Southern end of the station, where the largest docking ports are located. The representative is instead directed to the stations internal docking bay.

Carefully, the Redemption docks at a small docking pillar attached to the main axis at the northern part of the station station, as a counterweight opposite it adjust to maintain the balance. The station slowly rotates to provide artificial gravity, but only provides one third of normal artificial gravity, due to structural concerns. Fluid magnets in people suits make up for the difference. The Seata Civilian Security office is located close to the docking bay, in order to ensure ease of operations. The SCS administrator in charge of arranging your payment clearly isn't impressed with your progress. Only a marginal amount of drones have been destroyed, no ships damaged, and completely unsuccesfull in reclaiming the sector. As such, the entire place remains under hostile occupation. She doesn't mention the representative at all, and doesn't even let you explain before giving you your money and sending you off.

You're merely halfway back to the ship when a massive shock knocks all of you down to the ground. The station trembles and shakes, deafening alarms and sirens go off, the lightning flickers, and then fails completely leaving you in the soft red glow of the emergency lightning. A broken pipe of some sorts fills the corridors with thick, breathtaking smoke. Suddenly, the groans of metal are drowned out by the howling of the wind. The smoke is momentarily sucked away, and your ears hurt due to the lowering air pressure. With a sudden thump, an airlock closes behind you.

The sounds of destruction continue resonating through the station as you hurry towards the ship. As you arrive at the docking pillar (where luckily, the Redemption is still attached), you can see the extent of the damage. The central part of the station is entirely open to space, the North and the South points of the station collected merely through a few thing strands of glowing hot metal around the edge. Escape pods and various ships are undocking from the station as quickly as they can, trying to get away from the debris as the station tears itself apart. A habitation module is torn away by the rotational force, and smashes into a piece of debris, unmistakingly killing everyone still on board.

You could undock now, before the central docking pillar breaks and you're torn away with the debris. Or you could stay, picking up survivors. Or do something else entirely.

Ouch! We shouldn't have been that nice...

Retreating now is an option, but as this being our fault we should save at least somebody

It might not necessarily be them. It probably is, but it might not be.

Anyway, I'd suggest undocking the Redemption, flying it to a safe distance, and then detaching the gunship and sending it to pick up survivors.
I'd rather not risk damage to our ship, if possible.

I'm not sure if we should try to pick up any survivors or not. This could be attack by one of the Seata factions to cast blame on the other party, or it could be literal a bomb against them that was meant for us. This could end up with either one faction hating us or both blaming us for the incident. In either case I'm not sure it'd be to smart to hang around.

On the other hand, I bed we could make off with a bit of loot. I would imagine some of the debris floating around could be worth a little credits.

I think one of the better options is to try to disapear from system like nothing happened and head to Midway. Then supply there and we are open for our own little mining career in unexplored vastness of the inner rim

Yeah I like this idea. Lessss prosecution shall we say? In fact, supplement mining for smuggling/cutpersury and you're dead on.
