You extract the sword from your backpack, unwrap it and concentrate on the magic trace. But even without that you can see that the gem you've mentioned in it before is gleaming.
[6] You can now say for sure that there is no threat around the caravan, and the magic trace leads deep into the forest on the left. Looks like the one who created it is somewhere there.

(( Should he not have people monitoring the common frequency? It is his job to command his soldiers which is done on the common frequency so surely he must monitor it to get updates from his own units in the field otherwise he would have no idea whats going on in his own army. ))

New plan.

Place a truck burned out in the middle of the road, put the liquid nytroglyceryn into bottles with rags to form an improved bomb. Create a storm once it's dark to conceal my people and position ourselves ahead of the convoys route so it will travel into us.

301st lets the convoy past and move up behind, 302nd ambushes it's left 303rd ambushes its right. When they come to the truck all 3 forces attack at the same time focusing explosives on the armored vehicles for the initial surprise attack. Have 100 men from each battalion aim explosives at the trucks to set of the enemies gas weapons. Following this the 1st and 2nd battalion in each force continue to focus on vehicles that are not destroyed while the 3rd targets enemy infantry taking down officers and heavies first.

All units are to aim before using the initial explosive attack and hit in tandem for maximum shock value.

Send a message on the standard elven channel for any forces in the area to join me for the attack and if any arrive have them positioned ahead of the enemy behind the truck to attack with the rest of my forces.

If the enemy force successfully counter attacks all units are to fall back into the forest immediately.

Well the good news is that its not an ambush, but the necromancer or whoever sent those zombies is somewhere in this area

You're able to make about 6000 pint bottles of nytroglyceryn, all the other is used to explode one of your trucks to block the road.

At the night the rain begins, just as you ordered. But next things got messed up - two panzers which are leading the column shoot to the scraps of truck while moving and wipe that obstacle out of the way, so the convoy moves on. Attack anyway?

Have the mages attempt to split the ground beneath the tanks in the convoy open so they drop into pits and can not fire at us.

If the mages manage it then everybody open fire on the enemy soldiers anduse explosives only on any armored vehicles that escaped pits.
If they don't manage then all soldiers with explosives targets the tanks first then the infantry while those without target infantry.

Officers and Heavies are the priority to break the enemies morale.

[3-1 beacuse weather-control at once] Your mages fail to block the guns of the convoy, moreover, they reveal your positions by flashes of light they produced while casting.
[initiative - 3+1 vs 6-1]
[5] They open fire before your soldiers throw the cocktails. Damn, this is hell: heavy machineguns and flamethrowers mounted to panzers' towers wipe two closest batallions at once, set forest ablaze and cause nytroglyceryn cocktails explode right in the hads of your men, wiping another batallion in total.
No Heavy Infantry is present, but the officers take inside the panzers and armored troop-carriers and are now protected.

[2]Your counterattack is not very effective. Those thosands of coctails you throw kill, maybe, 20 of unfortunates outside the armored vehicles, but the vehicles themselves are not affected by such puny explosions and continue to suppress you by fire.

[retreat through burning forest - 4] You lose a company while retreating from the woods of blazing torches, but you still consider yourself lucky.
Armored vehicles leave the road and begin to pursue your forces:
[4] They are approaching your men, and soon they'll begin just rolling them over to a mass of blood.
[2-1] They shoot from their machineguns, but shots go wide and even glance their own vehicles, but make no harm to anyone.

Continue to retreat heading through the most heavily forested area so the tanks can't follow us. Keep our formation loose to reduce the impact of enemy fire.

The mages are to work together to turn the ground into a bog behind us so the vehicles get trapped.


(( Uhm tanks following us through a forest? How are tanks following us through a forest the trees would collapse on them and block them. Theres a reason tank warfare was never used in forests. ))

((The forest around you is not very thick and quite young - they are able simply to crush any tree on their way. It looks nearly like that.))

Making your formation loose is a good tactical decision in that situation. Seriously.
As you run deeper into the thick forest, you evade the attack of heavy weaponry. Your pursuers are slowing down due to the trees getting thicker until they are not able to move further. They set he forest atound them ablaze, once again. [5] The fire spreads with horrifying speed - napalm sticks to the trees and burns their trunks at low, so they fall and set anothers ablaze fro below.

Create a storm with strong wind blowing towards the enemy vehicles to blow napalm all over them. Also cause heavy rain to spread the napalm out and turn the ground into a bog so the enemy vehicles wheels and treads sink.

Stay in loose formation but stop retreating.


(( Basically napalm doesn't get put out by water it just spreads out in it and as a liquid gel it can be blown around. The mages create wind to blow napalm from the trees onto the vehicles the heat of which is more then enough to melt metal and roast anybody inside.
They also create strong rain which will cause the ground to become a great big marsh in which heavy vehicles can not move the treads and wheels will sink and trap them in place and the napalm will spread out around the vehicles so the crews can burn inside or burn outside.

Basically I want the mother of all storms right over those vehicles. ))

[retreating through the burning woods - 2] While retreating in a loose formation through the forest your forces got scattered in panic. But when you finally able to regroup, you still have a batallion at your side.
Your mages are too exhausted to speak, so trying to force them to make their spells would probably make the things worse.
