Try and get her attention. If said attention is obtained point out the totally empty seat.
"I don't mind, I'm just.........ignoring them" The first words you've heard her speak

Point out that it would probably help. And introduce ourselves.

Grab the used paper ammunition, and return fire. Or failing that, use a page from one of our notebooks to make our own projectile.

You start to grab for a used one, but the girl stops you
"Don't....you'll just give them more to fire back with.......he'll run out eventually"

"Honestly, I just find it's better to put a stop to this kind of thing early. Sure, the paper's a trivial thing, but I've found that if you let that sort of kid push you around, they'll typically continue until you push back. Still, I suppose there's no harm in waiting to see if he stops on his own.", Evan replied.

After a moment's pause, lost in thought, he continued, "Oh yeah, I forgot to introduce myself. My name's Evan."

Introduce self, initiate dialogue.

Edit: Oh yeah, and for the record, -1 to everything that involves sharp objects, stabbing people, or setting things on fire until further notice.

Think of the most efficient and violent way to deter the boy that Evan can get away with that does not involve sharp objects, stabbing, or fire.

At that, an awkward silence stretched, the sort that occurs frequently when two people who aren't terribly good at small talk try to hold a conversation. Deciding that continuing the conversation would be more interesting than looking out the window while dodging paper projectiles, Evan spoke up, "So, I'll admit this isn't exactly the most original question ever… but which classes are you looking forwards to? Or dreading, as the case may be. I'm kind of the new guy here, so I'm not sure what to expect."

((I'll just go ahead and ask now, does anyone mind if I RP and insert minor details about the scene/background? I'm hoping it'll make this a bit more interesting, but I don't want to mess with anyone else's plans.))

((I'm just trying to inject miscellaneous bits of premeditation into this and making it seem like Evans is half concerned member of society, half clockpunk citrus fruit derivative, so I wouldn't mind :P))

((That's quite alright with me))

"I really wish I knew yet, I haven't met any teachers, so it depends on them................hey, do you have a schedule?......so we can see if we have any of the same class?" She gestures toward your backpack

"Of course. I think I have it in here…"

Get out the schedule, get GM exposition.
