Back in 0.34.11, some complex creature spawning techniques involved small connector bodyparts that would melt away at room temperature.  The MELTING_POINT and HEATDAM had to be low enough in that material, and it still took 100-800 ticks for the damn thing to go away.  Once accidentally made the whole creature out of the stuff and the arena reported that the creature had melted.

Okay, so. I made a creature, hopefully one you can control in Fortress and Dwarf Mode. I'm not entirely certain as to what I've done, nor if there are any bugs. So here:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Above, the Entity file. Below, the creature itself.

Hopefully any bugs that ARE found can be worked out, as I am new to this.

No, I don't. I'm guessing I'll need one?

If you want them to actually have a custom language, you will need one.

If I recall correctly, trying to use a language that doesn't exist will have them using words from every other language instead.

yha it does that if you don't have a [language] [translation] tag as well.

it will draw randomly from all the language files.....I should look in to the tags for that. surely language moding cant be so difficult? right.....right? :-\

Nope. You can do it the long way; basically just duplicate an existing language, go through and change the translations of all the words. Easy, but takes a long god damn time.

You can also use dflang or langcreate to generate the languages off of example words you provide. Dflang requires python and its not as advanced, but is by no means useless if for whatever stupid reason langcreate won't work for you, or you just prefer to use dflang.

I don't think this counts as necroposting considering it's to add content.

Anyway, here's a creature I made mostly for Adventure mode. I was inspired by the Regenerador from Resident Evil 4 and some of the concept art from the game Prototype. It's a nearly immortal humanoid with a giant blade for an arm. As far as I know the only ways to kill it are the hard coded ones like being encased in ice, atom smashing, falling from a great height and being blow apart, etc... The error log is clean.

PTW and to claim my spot. I'm working on a race of centaur cats along with a civ and some other fun stuff. Will post them up here at a later time.

Right now they're a bit too peaceful, it seems. The Legends I've read so far have them being attacked and having a lot of wild enemies without actually attacking others themselves.

Firstly, the necessary body plan:

Hmmm, no luck on the itemcorpse idea I had here either.

Basically I just took a bronze colossus, made it elf size and steel, a low pop mountain peak civ that can be chosen as an outsider in adventure mode, called em steel angels and for the most part it is pretty boring up to that point.

One part I did was adding [HAS_EDGE] flags to the grasp strikes, the larger area punch (which is now kinda like a high velocity morningstar), the longer contact area chop (a high velocity sword), and the penetrating poke (a high velocity spear/dagger) with the values that I needed to efficiently sever limbs barehanded. I initially had them with wings and flier tags, but I prefer clanking around and jumping into stuff so I dropped the wings and went back to the same body plan as the colossus uses. Fun stuff, a little steel elf chick punching the heads and guts out of everything, weeeeeeee....

Then I wanted it to fall apart into a suit of masterwork steel armor upon death, helm, breastplate, gauntlets, greaves, boots. Unfortunately it only spawns the last item from the itemcorpse tags if you just list em in order, so I'm stumped atm unless somebody knows where you can like change what a body produces when you butcher it?

A creature can only have a single ITEMCORPSE, but you can make a creature butcherable into different items by using the BUTCHER_SPECIAL tag on its tissue materials.

Basically what you'd do here is create a couple of different materials that were copies of steel, except that they had the tag [BUTCHER_SPECIAL:ARMOR:ARMOR_BREASTPLATE] or whatever.  (Take a look at the templates for muscle or fat; this is the tag that makes muscle become meat items when you butcher an animal, or fat become globs.)  Then make the creature's torso out of the breastplate material, the head out of the helm material, and so on.

Be warned that you may need to adjust the size of the creature's body parts, as well as its overall size to ensure that you only get one of each item type.  Also, the armor may not fit you; there was one point where abnormally spawned armor would always be human-sized and would not fit dwarves, and I'm not sure if that was fixed.

Alternatively, you could go the much easier route of just giving it multiple EBO items.  It wouldn't become the items, but it would drop them when you butchered it.  (Though the wrong size problem might still be in effect).
