Star Lords
« on: December 09, 2013, 08:42:55 pm »

Anyone else playing this? I bought it a few days ago, and still debating if I like it. It's pretty simple. Noticed the same comments on the Steam comments board... so not sure if it's worth the money. It's not bad by any means... it's just very basic. I'm still trying to figure out a good balance to earn money.

Can you give a little more information about it? The name "Star Lords" has me hoping it is a Warlords (not Warlords Battlecry) remake in space.

I generally avoid early access. How early is the early access?

Yup, it's on Steam.

You have a home planet, upgrade it w/ factories and research buildings. Build ships, claim other planets, follow the simple tech tree to increase things you can do on your plants/ships. Just wondering if anyone else was playing.

Sorry to necro - but does anyone have this? Is it worth buying yet?

Also...does anyone know if there's a 4x where you DON'T start as a spacefaring race, but have to research space travel etc over time? I'm craving something like that...

Not that I know of. Some 4Xs have the option to start at the very beginning of entering into space (Distant Worlds with the expansion pack, for example), but I don't know of any games where you travel from a world domination game to a galactic domination game.

My one and only game of Aurora was like that. Started from zero, had to research all the technologies. By the time I had a few ships up in space though, I was burnt out :\

Also, apparently these guys are Portuguese, yay! Let's hope it becomes a decent game :)

Distant worlds with the Shadows expansion allows you to start without FTL, stuck in your home system and at the mercy of space pirates until you manage to crawl your way into the galaxy.

Or at least in theory, I have never tried that gamestart.

Distant Worlds is the 4X that is way more RTS than anything else isn't it? If so - I hated that.

That's probably Sins of a Solar Empire, Distant Worlds is definitely a 4X that just so happens to be real time.

that was a luky dwarf. I had one dabbling surgeon fail so spectacularly that the patient skull flew a tile away from the table.

DF doesn't mold players into its image - DF merely selects those who were always ready for DF.

Minecraft UI is very simple. There's only so many ways you can implement "simple" without copying something. We also gonna complain that it uses WASD?

I put in a little time and too many bugs, don't buy this POS yet. Give it a year or more to actually develop.
