Cullodus barely looks up from his studying the Arcana. He merely sets his hat and continues reading.

Suddenly, three enormous metal spikes protrude through The Illustrious Joe Bridger's screen impaling him through the eyes and throat.  They then exude a dissolving agent that melts him down to sludge in a matter of moments.  "Let this be a lesson to those who are not willingly participating," Keeper Moretti calls, "his clone line is being terminated for refusing to participate and his memories are being shattered so that he will not return."  He stops for a moment before continuing, "The bids have been cast, the powers selected.  I will inform you of conflicting selections shortly."

Kyle looks like he's going to toss it. You know if he had any of it to toss.
"And that would be why I continue on with this as my purpose..."

If there are no upbids by noon tomorrow, I will assume that there are no issues with the powers that you have chosen or will be losing.

Angel looks around at the adults, the ones she would have to fight. She was worried. She hadn't chosen this...she thought. Everything was a blur before a few weeks ago.

Cullodus barely looks at Kyle, but walks over to Angel.
"Is something the matter, young one?"

Ada flinched slightly as she saw Joe melt, she was beginning to regret ever signing up for this. She had known that there would be death but somehow it was different actually watching it. A long deep sigh escaped her, she didn't have a choice now though she would have to fight and hopefully she wouldn't suffer the same  fate as the man over there.

Cullodus barely looks at Kyle, but walks over to Angel.
"Is something the matter, young one?"

Angel nods, still looking fearfully around.

Pushing ahead a little early, as there do not appear to be any further bid.

"Congratulations are in order for you challengers.  Your powers are selected, your destinies chosen.  Behold the powers of your fellows" Keeper Moretti Gestures to some screens that are even further above him.  The group has to back up and crane their necks to see.

The Illustrious Joe Bridgers: Terminated

"I hope you are prepared for what is to come, for not all survive the Ascension"  You all find yourselves instantaneously impaled by spikes extending from the floor. 

Angel feels her body shifting and twisting beneath her as her mind is introduced to incredible new concepts, but is unable to focus on any of them as her mind is whited out in pain.

Kyle begins to exude a molten metallic skin that burns away his old body.  As his new body begins to harden, he begins to truly understand deception.

Ada is broken and reformed countless times as she comes to understand exactly what she bid for, the power to destroy another.  She also subconsciously registers her body becoming stronger. 

Cullodus, in spite of the spike impaling him in his esophagus, seems to be more or less okay.  His previous understanding of the arcana powers is of great benefit to him.

The spikes retract, leaving rapidly regenerating holes in the contestants bodies.  Altogether, they feel harder, faster and stronger,  if they can even reach that level of thought.

((Whoo. I have the lowest energy! On the other hand, my powers are pretty good.))

What now?

((High energy, plus the most either unbalanced or pathetic powers at my command.))
Cullodus looks worriedly at Angel, but says nothing.

"Well, it seems that they've all made it out okay.  Lets hear it for them folks."  The crowd goes absolutely wild, "But do tell me, some of them do look to be a little under the weather don't you think?  Which do you think would be better for them, a quick test of their new found abilities or a break?"  There is laughter in the stands followed by cheers of "TEST THEM OUT, TEST THEM OUT..."  "HAHAAaaa," Keeper Moretti laughs How about a little four on four then?  Keeper Moretti points to the ceiling and gravity shifts, lightly dragging the four challengers to the ceiling.  There sits four giant, what can only be described as, spiders in cages.  "Are you rrrrrrrready to RRRRRUMBLE!"

Cullodus brushes his hat, taking out his book of Arcana, and assumes a battle stance. He sounds as if he is tired of this.
"Fine. Let them come."
