has tome 3 got detailed combat?
Aside of a variety of skills to use no.
It's just whacking people till their HP goes to 0.

Another idea would be most Fallout games.
They allow targeting joints (head, eyes, groin (yep!), left/right leg/arm) and i guess the character progression is deep enough... but i guess you probably both know and passed Fallout several times by now.

windows 7 don't like fall out 1 (and I'm betting 2!) and as for fallout 3 I'm 13 (incoming hate...) but anyway detailed combat is highest priority for me.
For fallout 1 fixing

As for fallout 2 i believe something similar could be applied if researched properly so fear not. Have fun!

that was a luky dwarf. I had one dabbling surgeon fail so spectacularly that the patient skull flew a tile away from the table.

DF doesn't mold players into its image - DF merely selects those who were always ready for DF.

Minecraft UI is very simple. There's only so many ways you can implement "simple" without copying something. We also gonna complain that it uses WASD?

Definitely try IVAN, which is a roguelike with insanely complex interactions. You have bodyparts, and can pray for bodyparts and that means you will likely end up with a leg made of expensive fabric. Which is weaker than your original leg of human flesh, but at least you are able to kick again!

Sounds right up your alley!

While not an open world game, you may get some fun out of the Front Mission games. You can always load up an emulator and have some fun. There's always Cataclysm: Dark Days ahead for some degree of complex interaction and body part damage and/or modifications.

You have my interest I have looked around and have some questions 1 just how detailed are the graphics and can you turn it off? 2 how easy is it to tell how much damage a weapon does? For example dwarf fortress has a simple metal system where it's easy to tell how much damage you get by a weapons metal, another example a good deal rogue likes have some kind of D&D damage system that I never bothered to figure out 3 Does quality of monster limbs vary from monster to monster? All my questions for now

Yeah, I haven't kept track of everything that evolved from the original IVAN - haven't played in years :( But some people say the new versions are a lot better, so no harm in trying them!

There was also a sequel of Gearhead called Gearhead 2...I don't know how far along that is in development.
Highly playable beta (my personal opinion is that it's better than GH1, but this is debatable). Another (more sad) answer to that question: as far as it will ever get- there have been no updates in 3 years, and he openly admits his working on the sequel to that now (it's going to be scaled down, but hopefully just as fun). so 0.628 is likely to be the last version forever now.
You know. It is currently an open source game. The Bay12 freeware takeover committee could look into it. I know I've been tempted to start poking around at the code.
