Playfortune

The long-running Forgotten Beast Art Contest, which you can find in my signature, has been a smashing success. But the artists are restless. They must draw more!
And what is there that's worth drawing in Dwarf Fortress? Artifacts, of course. They can be silly, legendary, or just plain weird. Either way, no two are the same.


I invite you all to join in this thread! How does it work? Well, it's simple...

• The winner of the previous round posts an Artifact of their choosing!
• Anyone interested takes approximately 2 weeks to draw their interpretation of the artifact
• The owner of the artifact announces their choice of victor. This person chooses the next artifact!

What you choose as the artifact is entirely up to you. Everything qualifies - from millstones to thongs to floodgates to engravings. Dwarven imagination is never limited by such frivolities such as reason or practicality; neither should ours be.

If possible, it's great if you provide some background. Was it crafted under mysterious circumstances? Was it used to slay a thousand kittens? Was it promptly stolen by a kobold?

Mods are discouraged. If the artifact you have is particularly fantastic it will be considered, but it is much preferred to have something out of the original game.

Don't be afraid to draw. Given the history of the Forgotten Beast Contest, the originality and effort are what really matters. Your MS Paint doodle is quite likely to win!

If the author of the wonder is unavailable, there are other ways to determine a winner and/or the next item. Usually by a quick vote!

A final note, due to the amount of Artifacts that the game generates daily, it's best to limit the items to the current winner. If you have an unusually awesome creation to share, go ahead... but no promises that it will get drawn.


So there's that! I am incredibly excited to see what comes out of it, and could use something to get rolling. Any takers?

Basically I copied a trireme off the net and changed the poop deck to be an elephant head killing a dwarf. I was much lazier with the talking dwarves and decided to go symbolic.
