((Alright, what speech color should I choose? We've got a yellow-orange, a red-brown, and default. Alright, blue works.))

Amusing, isn't it? I discover the supernatural because of the spirits of the dead, and my first real foray into the supernatural involves convincing someone they don't exist.
...Not being made easier by the fact that there probably
is one...

"Don't worry, Mr. and Mrs. Sallwort. I can't see how there would be something to worry about. Now, Oscar, Jennifer, watch this..."

Perform some simple magic tricks to amuse the children and--hopefully--take the minds of the adults off of all that's been happening.

Well more than one way to skin a cat as they say.

[mastahcheese - 20 D]
The husband looks at you gratefully before the rest of your team starts running their mouths with what he didn't want them to say.

Inside the house a hallway stretches out in front of you. Along the walls photos of the family lie, telling a story of happiness starting with two young lovers, pregnant with their first child and ending with a mother and father holding their two children and pregnant with their third. The house overall is pretty standard. (Link to layout at the bottom.)

[Knit tie - 10 F]
"I-I don't know. Nobody's died here since we moved in."
Well the family looks freaked out now.

[Imp - 30 H]
Sally 'fields' this question.
"The doctor said I shouldn't move around with the... complications I had with Oscar and Jennifer. I don't want to lose this baby."

[Remuthra - 20 D]
James just stares at you, looking like a fish with his mouth opening and closing.

[GreatWyrmGold - 10 W]
The parents relax slightly while their kids marvel over your tricks. By the time you're done, the two of them seem much happier, not paying attention to the adults.

[TheFroggyNinja - 20 D]
James and Sally exchange a look before Sally shrugs helplessly.
"Whatever. Just... do whatever you have to do."

Layout to house.

Huh, head over to the stairs, see if there is some loose panels or other indication of a passage to a basement, also check the sturdiness of it.

"Alright, I'm glad I could cheer you up a bit. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'll need to help my friends figure out what, exactly, is going on. First off, I'd like to ask you a few questions. Did these noises and such start as soon as you came to this house? And what kind of noises are they?"

"Well then, to work!"
Do some scans for fluctuations in the electromagnetic field that might prove or disprove local paranormal activity. Especially the room that the "Believer" was waving at.

Father Mikhail, distraught that he only made the situation worse, lit his census and started going around the house, spreading the smell on incense and reciting prayers.

Amelia appears to have been just waiting for someone else to walk through the house with.  She smiles warmly as she accompanies Father Mikhail, looking curiously around each room as it is entered.  She's paying attention to the walls, the corners, the ceilings, the shadowy areas, as well as the actual objects of the room, trying to look at the very air of the room.  She's sure there's magic here, and she really wants to 'see' it.

Bah, you know, it's a good thing you called us. Ghosts are like cockroaches; the longer you wait to exterminate them, the worse they get. Now, we're the Spook Hunters here, and we can get rid of the damned things, no problem.

[mastahcheese - 20 D]
You pull and yank at the panels of the staircase, looking fairly stupid until it is fairly apparent that there is not a secret basement.

[Knit tie - 10 F]
As the incense fills the house you hear sobbing all around you. Suddenly the sobbing grows quiet and a pressure you did not know was upon you lifts.

[Imp - 30 H]
The sobbing reaches your ears as well, as though it was far away however. Your neck prickles as the sobbing grows quiet and your eyes are drawn to the stairs.

[Remuthra - 20 D]
"I... Alright. Whatever. Just fix it"

[GreatWyrmGold - 10 W]
"They only started over the last month. What they sound like? Like an animal is scratching at the walls. We called Animal Control, but they couldn't find anything."

[TheFroggyNinja - 20 D]
Apart from a strong reading in the kitchen that could have been caused by the appliances, you find nothing until you head upstairs. The main bedroom gives a similar result to the kitchen, though since the bedroom is almost above the kitchen the same thing could be causing it. Eventually your scans lead you up to the room the Believer was waving at. The kid's room. While elsewhere in the house the readings stayed constant here they flunctuate wildly, even while you stand still. They are the most wild slightly off of the room's centre, closer to the door than the far wall.

Amelia stops in mid stride, her head turning towards the stairs.  A moment later she looks back, trying to make eye contact with Father Mikhail.  She reaches towards him, a hand lightly placed on the priest's forearm as she starts to walk towards the stairs, a gentle invitation to follow her.  If he doesn't, she'll let her fingers slip away as she continues to move towards wherever her attention wanders.  Oh, she wants to see.
