I don't even know what's happening with these graphics anymore
« on: December 03, 2013, 09:57:56 pm »

Luckily, I've got an image. Please ignore my ugly custom colours.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

The major problems are:

1. Trees, animals and rocks are all y, AE, u, etc. instead of what they should be.
2. I've got some sort of graphics set on the dwarves and animals, even though I've deleted all graphics-set related files and changed the file links back to taffer's in init.txt

EDIT: I forgot to set [GRAPHICS:NO], that fixed the graphics pack issue. Minerals are still all letters though.

You also need to configure the proper tileset (i.e. [GRAPHICS_FONT:whatever_your_tileset_wants.png]).

P.S. If you don't get this note, let me know and I'll write you another.
It's amazing how dwarves can make a stack of bones completely waterproof and magmaproof.
It's amazing how they can make an entire floodgate out of the bones of 2 cats.

Apologies for the bump. There's a warning in my tileset description about this. Many graphics sets change what tiles rocks, plants, and creatures display. My graphics set and regular tilesets both require vanilla raw files. (Or, if you prefer, modded, "ASCII" friendly raw files.)

It's probably far too late to answer this, but if it happens to anybody else: Make a separate, clean, vanilla installation of Dwarf Fortress, then install the tileset or graphics set that you want. Then copy the raw folder from the new installation to your saved game and main DF folder, overwriting what's there.

No guarantees it will work. It's best to back everything up beforehand. If you use a mod, it will likely be easiest to just reinstall everything.

It's best to not swap graphics sets for each other, especially not "ASCII" tilesets or minimal graphics sets like mine into a Mayday/Ironhand/etc installation, unless you don't mind graphical oddities or are prepared to fix the raw folder of your saved game.
