(27%) You fail to be able to bring up more then the word "fortress" but its mumbled so much, she can hear just enough. She looks at Weston after a helpless giggle from Symon's apparent shyness.

"He's not much of a talker, is he? I only heard "fortress" again."

Symon mumbles a quiet apology to Thyra. Even if he succeeded on his roll she wouldn't be able to make anything out.

((For the record:
"We used to call it Uristash... But now we call it Ana~Atayo... The Dead Homes..."
I know its a little much to remember, but if you want me to recall anything stated, I won't dock you for not looking back/not remembering. When we get to the fortress, expect a LOT of notes that may or may not be useful.))

((It's been a month and I haven't been taking notes. Sorry about that.))
((As I said, I'm not gonna punish you for not knowing or taking notes. I don't blame you either for not trying to. So don't worry over something so small))

Weston laughed as well.

"He gets a bit more vocal in battle, but yes he tends to be fairly quiet. Anyway, we're headed to a ruined dwarven fortress known as 'The Dead Homes'. Though at the rate these shadow creatures attack us, it might be wise to turn around and try again once we refresh our supplies."

"So, what about yourself? Where does the elf known as Thyra hail from?"

She lets out a little laugh at Symons face turning bright red after attempting to say something. (6%)

"I'm a wood elf, actually. I come from the Grey Vale, where adventure is well known there. I left there when I was almost 17 years of age, and I've been traveling for many years since. A few of my songs are ones that are sung locally there. I beleive there is a town about half a day's travel west at the other side of the mountains."

The dwarf caravan master mentioned this as well.

"We've come this far already, why turn now? The nearest town, going back, is Athkatla, and I heard of some nasty business there with some shadow thieves and a vampire. I sang in the very tavern the day after, and I recall I found, not far from there, a beggar there with some oversized pants... They were nice pants for sure, but a bit big for a human. I asked him about what happened and he said there was trouble in that very tavern, and lots of Vryloka found dead in the streets. One I heard was so banged up that they couldn't tell what it was when they saw the body. There was also talk about a goblin riding on a cart, and they made it sound quite humorous. Perhaps you have heard of these rumors? You must agree they are rather silly. I hardly believed them to be real."

History Check: Vryloka
(14+7) ((another damn thing where I'm missing half of my info! Looks like I'm stuck using the CB stuff this time))

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

(13+3 vs ?) You have a quick realization for a moment. You look over at your allies and one in particular fits that description, and Archuther's claim about Aurel not being a human and his claim he is human in all purposes? There's no doubt about it to you; Aurel is a vryloka. And the assassins from before and his vampire kin appeared to be Vryloka as well. You can't tell if you should be scared of him or horrified at his family.

((What sort of knowledge checks do I know? Also, I'm an eladrin, so technically I meditate, rather than sleep, so I'm aware of my surroundings, although the others may not know that.))
((You can make any check at all, and yes you do, but you do suffer a slight penalty to perception/insight in that state (even if it doesn't say so, I'm ruling it as so). -3 to anything that has to do with seeing (perception, insight) while you're meditating.))

((Could have sworn that my character already had suspicions about Aurel. But whatever.))

Weston chuckled nervously.

"Funnily enough, we just came from that way ourselves. Caught some mention of those same rumors too.
Out of curiosity, what sort of cart was the goblin riding?"

Sorry but it's been bothering me for a while yet I never actually noticed why.
Shouldn't the title be "The Mountain Maze" ?

They're nearly as bad as badgers. Build a couple of anti-buzzard SAM sites marksdwarf towers and your fortress will look like Baghdad in 2003 from all the aerial bolt spam. You waste a lot of ammo and everything is covered in unslightly exploded buzzard bits and broken bolts.

She thinks for a second.
"As far as I know, it was a simple horse and cart, though some say it was a wagon of sorts. I had a guess that it might have been your group in the rumors, provided they were true, but I see no goblin riding a cart, so I guess I was wrong. And I must have just missed you passing the town. I'm a fast rider by myself, but I didn't even notice anyone was ahead of me until I got you. That storm didn't help either."
