((The idea was to draw an arrow so we'd know where we've been and where we went. Not a big huge arrow, just something that can't be mistaken for a natural rock formation.))

"Hmm...maybe not the best idea. This thing could be dulled into uselessness before we get out of here."

Put the dagger away.

Well, any rock should do, really. Nice idea with the dagger, Weston. Pity it didn't work.

Pick up a rock ((We ARE in the mountains. There is going to be a rock.)) and attempt to either scratch an arrow in the rock under Weston's arrow or draw one using it, whichever works better.

There was a big pile of rocks you all just dug up, there's a few small ones amongst them. You grab one the size of your fist and attempt to crave into the wall. (3) the rock breaks and barely a mark is placed.

Grot fumbles about his junk and finds he still has 10 pints of oil and smears some over Weston's arrow. It's dripping but it stains the rock a little, enough to be noticed.

Karl studies the map with the others "Alright, that helps. Let's try the center route from the cave entrance.. Does anyone have a pen and ink so we can sketch out more of the map?"

You all suddenly realise: no one has any sort of writing utensil.

Karl looks around."Does anyone have a magical method of writing, before I have to cut a vein and sketch the map in blood?"

"Oh for the love of..."

Cut your palm with a dagger enough for a controlled amount of blood to leak.

"Here."

You cut yourself, dealing (3) damage! You're now bleeding!

((I'm a warrior, it didn't come up. My initial character, another mage, did have a journal, ink and quills with him. :P Besides, we're PCs with a crazy number of healing surges and effects between us, we can probably paint a whole room in our blood and dance a jig afterwards.))

((Ah, but bleeding cause damage over time. It IS a status effect after all (one that fighters can cause with a feat and cleave)))

You take a closer look at the map. (12+9) You realize it is a very old magical map. It writes for you the ways you have gone in a certain area before the magic is used up. Its magic seems too complicated to replicate, and seems to have very limited numbers of pages. It is done, however, through what Weston has seen for some odd reason.

Grot hops of the cart and starts practicing his flute skills. It is definatley much better then it was before.

"I see your point, Nadarr. Proceed."

Smear some blood on the wood below the arrow and patch up the wound.
