Next question: Can you explain or give an example of what you mean by characters having four background bonuses? I flipped through the Dark Sun book and the Player's Manual 1, but couldn't find anything in there to explain it more clearly.

In the character builder I use, there are several options to having backgrounds. One will be forgotten realms: your homeland. You pick one area you like, for example vilhan wilds, and you get the benefit from being there, like the reroll to dungeons wrong checks that vilhan gets. You get your dark sun theme and the forgotten realms theme as well as two "general" which are like Occupation - Scholar, Location - Urban, etc. I'm doing this because you can have a homeland, and have a general idea on who you are as a person by what you did and where you've been, etc.

It's for story purposes mostly, but an extra bonus or two doesn't sound that bad though, right?

EDIT:
Most of the general backgrounds are found in PHB 2 and in many of the dragon magazines. I don't know how you'll get the latter, but if you're doing it without the builder, I commend you for your effort, making me feel like a lazy bum

Same here. I think it's something to do with the .index files. Either they're incorrect or the thing isn't recognizing them for some reason.

Its gotta be updated. Theres an html code that adds in the updates. I don't know if it will work after its been installed, but heres a link to my files in the character builder. It doesn't have the appdata files, so I don't know how it'll work.

I'm pretty sure there are online character builders that don't require downloading a lot of weird files and doing wizardry to them. I'll see if I can find one of my favorites when I get on my computer later.

Does it have the current additions? I know theres one you can torrent/download that doesn't include a lot of the newer things, like hengeyokai aren't there, etc.
