Welcome to Dungeons and Dragons on bay12!

Don't know what dungeons and dragons is? Here's a little summary:

 D&D is an imaginative, social experience that engages players in a rich fantasy world filled with larger-than-life heroes, deadly monsters, and diverse settings. As a hobby game, D&D is an ongoing activity to which players might devote hours of their time—much like a weekly poker game—getting together with friends on a regular basis for weeks, months, or even years.
Players create heroic fantasy characters -- mighty warriors, stealthy rogues, or powerful wizards -- which they guide through an ongoing series of adventures, working together to defeat monsters and other challenges and growing in power, glory, and achievement. The game offers endless possibilities and a multitude of choices . . . more choices than even the most sophisticated computer game, because you can do whatever you can imagine!
 

Players are chosen! A waitlist may be made afterwards if people desire to drop out or if they die and don't wish to continue.

We will be working in the Forgotten Realms with a few house rules:

-You get four backgrounds; one dark sun theme, one forgotten realms and two general. You may only pick one bonus from each (with my allowance). Any bonuses should be applied afterwards.

-You can use any alignment (lawful good, good, chaotic good/lawful neutral, true neutral, chaotic neutral/lawful evil, evil, chaotic evil)

-Critical Misses will have the worst possible outcome occur

-Torches and other light sources shed only so much light away, depending on the light source

-Most rolls, outside the character builder, will be done by the DM

-Battles will be done a little differently, taking everyone's movements and actions in one round at a time but all going in the initiative order.

-Pictures will be presented during each round so that everyone can see what is going on

After I get better DMing, and learning more about the characters, I can probably make my own campaign. For now, I may just do pre-con adventures

I have all the rulebooks and stuff already, but I can't make a character at the moment. Are we limited to just the first handbook? I'm thinking of rolling a dwarven runepriest maybe...
